Maruti S-Presso witnessed the highest surge in monthly sales followed by Maruti Celerio, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Maruti Wagon R
The entry-level and compact hatchback segment in India currently has ten products out of which six are from Maruti’s stable. In May 2025, the Maruti Swift was the best-selling car among them followed by the Maruti Wagon R, Tata Tiago, and Tata Tiago EV. Here’s a detailed account of the hatchback sales in May 2025:

The Swift was the best-selling hatchback with over 14000 units sold even though it had a month-on-month decline. On the other hand, the Wagon R had 13949 units sold, marking a month-on-month (MoM) growth of 4 percent.

Both Maruti Ignis and Maruti S-Presso had over 1800 units sold in May 2025. While Ignis reported a drop in its monthly sales, S-Presso witnessed the highest MoM growth of 149 percent compared to April 2025.

Renault India managed to sell over 500 units of the Kwid hatchback in May 2025. Its monthly sales dropped by only 55 units compared to April 2025, however, the yearly decline was 27 percent compared to May 2024.

Citroen managed to sell only 110 units of the C3 hatchback in May 2025, the same as in April 2025.
