Showing information of Renault KWID Climber 1.0 AMT - Petrol variant

KWID highlights

March 09, 2017: Renault has launched the Kwid Climber, which was showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo as a concept. Based on the range-topping versions of the Kwid 1.0-litre, the Climber is priced at Rs 4.30 lakh for the manual and Rs 4.60 lakh for the AMT version (automated-manual transmission); all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi (introductory). Both the models are nearly Rs 25,000 costlier than their respective versions of the Kwid 1.0-litre RXT (O). The Climber, which has now become the most expensive version of the Kwid, comes with subtle aesthetic changes to make it look distinctive as opposed to the regular hatch. It receives a new Electric Blue colour option along with glossy orange highlights, both to its exterior and interior. It also rides on alloy wheels.

In February 2017, Renault introduced the RXL variant of the Kwid 1.0-litre in both manual and AMT options, priced at Rs 3.54 lakh and Rs 3.88 lakh, respectively (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). Earlier, the 1.0-litre and the Renault Kwid AMT variants were only available in the top-spec RXT variant.

The Kwid is available with two engine options – a 0.8-litre and a 1.0-litre – with the latter getting an automated manual transmission as well. The baby Renault has been a runaway success for the brand thanks to its SUV-inspired styling and unique features such as a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital speedometer. The Kwid takes on the like of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and K10, the Hyundai Eon and the Datsun redi-GO.

Hi guys, I own 2 cars i.e. a kwid & an elite i20 & i use my kwid for daily usage, so today I will be sharing my opinion about the kwid with you all. I wanted an automatic transmission car & I liked kwid a lot & when I came to know that its AMT variant is available I purchased it in december & I loved it & after a month of usage I would like to share my experience. I bought the automatic variant & it is extremely comfortable to drive & overall I am happy with my de read more 28

Yesterday I went to a Renault showroom to test-ride Kwid. I was already impressed by the looks of the car. I have always loved SUVs and the high stance of Kwid gives you that feel. Renault is making the product better by offering alloy wheels in coming months. Then I drove the vehicle and it did not disappoint me. I could feel the punch in the car which was missing in the Alto 800 and Eon. The power figures are completely justified. There is enough torque for a petrol mill so that is another plu read more 312

Look and Style: In all the reviews, this vehicle is being compared with Alto, Eon etc but, in terms of exterior appearance and looks, Alto and Eon will not be a comparison at all. Kwid Looks very elegant, bold and very big in size, this is very much on par with Santro, i10, Beat, Celerio etc. Comfort: The steering is very smooth and a pleasure to drive. A/C is also pretty good. Mileage: Currently, I'm getting 13 Kmpl as per the digital instrument cluster in the city condition with A/C ON. read more 468

Renault KWID review

A small car makes total sense for India. They are practical for the jam-packed roads that we encounter, repairs are affordable in case of the unfortunate scruff and they are quite reliable in the long run. Needless to say, these factors make hatchbacks account for maximum volume of car sales in India. For a very long time now, Maruti’s offering, the Alto has been the undisputed king of the segment. Cars such as the Hyundai Eon, Tata Nano and Datsun Go have tried hard to displace the Alto. All they’ve been able to do is scratch the surface.

Renault is fairly confident that the Kwid can be ‘The One’. Does it have what it takes to overturn a dictatorship? We  find out!

Things We Like in KWID

  • 1.0-litre engine is peppy. Optional AMT is a boon inside the city.
  • Boot space is a humongous 300-litres (Alto = 177-litres)
  • Spacious cabin compared to contemporaries, can seat four adults comfortably.
  • SUV inspired styling. The cladding and muscular elements makes it look like nothing else in the segment.

Things We Don't Like in KWID

  • The engine is noisy and vibrations unpalatable.
  • ABS option not available even on the top-end variant.
  • Interiors reek of cost cutting. Quality of materials could have been better.
  • Best suited for city use alone. Runs out of breath on the highway.

Stand Out Features

  • Touch Screen MediaNav system is the Best in class.

Touch Screen MediaNav system is the Best in class.

  • Digital Instrument Cluster is funky with a host of read outs that have never before been seen on in the segment. Shows distance to empty average & and real-time fuel consumption too!

CarDekho Verdict

The Kwid is amongst the best options in the segment. As an overall package, it provides distinctive styling, good driving performance and a good list of accessories. It also beats its competitors in terms of interior space and fuel economy.

"The KWIDs SUV inspired styling is sure to win your heart. The well equipped interior is the cherry on the cake."

The only thing that Renault needs to do is provide exceptional service and after-sales service and be able to put up with the demand. Maruti Suzuki Alto, you have finally met your match!
