Yesterday I went to a Renault showroom to test-ride Kwid. I was already impressed by the looks of the car. I have always loved SUVs and the high stance of Kwid gives you that feel. Renault is making the product better by offering alloy wheels in coming months. Then I drove the vehicle and it did not disappoint me. I could feel the punch in the car which was missing in the Alto 800 and Eon. The power figures are completely justified. There is enough torque for a petrol mill so that is another plu read more 211

Look and Style: In all the reviews, this vehicle is being compared with Alto, Eon etc but, in terms of exterior appearance and looks, Alto and Eon will not be a comparison at all. Kwid Looks very elegant, bold and very big in size, this is very much on par with Santro, i10, Beat, Celerio etc.Comfort: The steering is very smooth and a pleasure to drive. A/C is also pretty good.Mileage: Currently, I'm getting 13 Kmpl as per the digital instrument cluster in the city condition with A/C ON. I read more 315

I recently took a test drive of the Kwid. The car's looks were able to impress me given the high stance of it. The ride quality was not as per expectations. I own a Alto 800 and I expected the Kwid to be much better. The three-cylinder engine resulted in too much vibrations at the onset. The car though rides well as soon as you reach around 2000 rpm. I could also feel good power delivery capacity on high rpm. But as far as ride quality is concerned, Eon is the smoothest of all. I really like read more 361

Renault KWID review

A small car makes total sense for India. They are practical for the jam-packed roads that we encounter, repairs are affordable in case of the unfortunate scruff and they are quite reliable in the long run. Needless to say, these factors make hatchbacks account for maximum volume of car sales in India. For a very long time now, Maruti’s offering, the Alto has been the undisputed king of the segment. Cars such as the Hyundai Eon, Tata Nano and Datsun Go have tried hard to displace the Alto. All they’ve been able to do is scratch the surface.

Renault is fairly confident that the Kwid can be ‘The One’. Does it have what it takes to overturn a dictatorship? We  find out!

Pros

Boot space is a humongous 300-litres (Alto = 177-litres)

1.0-litre engine is peppy. Optional AMT is a boon inside the city.

SUV inspired styling. The cladding and muscular elements makes it look like nothing else in the segment.

Spacious cabin compared to contemporaries, can seat four adults comfortably.

Cons

The engine is noisy and vibrations unpalatable.

ABS option not available even on the top-end variant.

Interiors reek of cost cutting. Quality of materials could have been better.

Best suited for city use alone. Runs out of breath on the highway.

Stand Out Features

  • Digital Instrument Cluster is funky with a host of read outs that have never before been seen on in the segment. Shows distance to empty average & and real-time fuel consumption too!

  • Touch Screen MediaNav system is the Best in class.

CarDekho Verdict

The Kwid is amongst the best options in the segment. As an overall package, it provides distinctive styling, good driving performance and a good list of accessories. It also beats its competitors in terms of interior space and fuel economy.

"The KWIDs SUV inspired styling is sure to win your heart. The well equipped interior is the cherry on the cake."

The only thing that Renault needs to do is provide exceptional service and after-sales service and be able to put up with the demand. Maruti Suzuki Alto, you have finally met your match!

Renault Kwid Outsider Concept Showcased At 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show

Renault has displayed a more rugged looking version of the Kwid hatchback at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show. Called the 'Renault Kwid Outsider Concept', this hatchback is a Brazilian-spec model with added claddings. In looks, this concept bears a striking resemblance with the Kwid Climber Concept, which made its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo in India. The Brazilian-spec model of the Kwid is heavier than the Indian models as it has an enhanced structure for safety along with more safety features. Read Full News
