Key Takeaways
-
Hyundai Creta remained the best-selling car on April 25. It is also the only Hyundai car to secure a place on this list. While the Creta witnessed a 6 percent drop in monthly sales, its yearly sales increased by 10 percent. This can be attributed to the launch of the Hyundai Creta Electric earlier this year, as the sales figures now combine both its ICE and EV versions.
-
Maruti Dzire witnessed a surge in sales by up to 10 percent. It had almost 17,000 units dispatched on April 25 and is also the only sedan on this list.
-
Maruti Brezza has also moved up to third place on April 25 compared to its sixth position in the sales chart on March 25. It has witnessed a slight 3 percent month-on-month growth in sales while registering a marginal yearly decline.
-
The Maruti Ertiga has also moved up a position despite a 6 percent drop in monthly sales. Notably, it had a 17 percent YoY growth and has now replaced the Maruti Wagon R in fourth place, which saw a significant decline in sales by up to 25 percent. It has hence moved down to ninth place in the April 2025 rankings.
-
The Maruti Swift saw an 18 percent decline this time, pushing it down to seventh position. However, the hatchback has witnessed the highest year-on-year growth of over 250 percent in April 2025. This is because the new-generation model was introduced in April 2024 and sales were yet to begin.
-
Maruti Fronx and Maruti Baleno have both recorded up to 7 percent month-on-month growth in sales, with each model having up to 800 more units dispatched in April 2025 compared to March 2025.
-
The Tata Punch registered the biggest drop in sales, by about 30 percent and consequently lost its previously held second place. It had around 13,000 units sold in April 2025, compared to a figure of around 18,000 in March 2025.
-
The Tata Nexon has recorded a slight decline in sales in April 2025, while posting 38 percent yearly gains compared to April 2024. It had over 15,000 units dispatched in April 2025.
-
The Maruti Eeco has climbed up in the rankings due to a 10 percent increase in its sales in April 2025. It had over 1,000 more units sold when compared to March 2025.
-
The Mahindra Thar lifestyle off-roader saw great demand in April 2025, as shown by its sales figures. It witnessed the highest month-on-month growth of 20 percent besides a healthy yearly growth of 74 percent. This has no doubt been helped by the introduction of the Mahindra Thar Roxx, whose sales numbers have also been included.
- The Mahindra Scorpio, including the Mahindra Scorpio N, performed well in April 2025 with a 12 percent month-on-month growth. The nameplate collectively saw over 15,000 units dispatched in the particular month.
-
The Mahindra Bolero and Tata Tiago are also new entrants to this roster compared to March 2025. Both models have seen a 4 percent monthly growth in sales and had over 8,000 units dispatched for each.
SUVs remain the top choice for buyers, while hatchbacks continue to hold the attention of some buyers. The Ertiga and Eeco were the popular MPV choices in April and sedans have kept fading out.
