Interested in buying the XUV 7XO? Here’s our Ultimate Buying Guide!
The Mahindra XUV 7XO is one of the most-feature loaded cars in its segment. It offers features that are comparable to luxury cars, with both petrol and diesel engine options, along with an optional all-wheel drivetrain (diesel-AT only) as well.
It is available in AX, AX3, AX5, AX7, AX7 Tech, and AX7 Luxury trims, but most of its new additions over the previous model (XUV 700) are found in the top-spec AX7 L variant. So if you were in the market, looking for a feature-loaded family car, let's take a look at what the AX7 L variant offers, starting with its design.
Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7 L Exterior
As you’d expect, the top-spec AX7 L variant of the Mahindra XUV 7XO looks properly modern, and the styling looks even richer at night with its details that we’ll talk about in the following section.
Front
The styling up front of the top-spec variant is exactly the same as the one-below top variant. So you’ve got a prominent grille which gets dark chrome elements along with a host of piano black surfaces that house the Mahindra logo right in the middle. A clever attention to detail here is that the front facing camera has been neatly integrated under the Mahindra logo, so it doesn’t pop out randomly and spoil the look.

The LED headlights flank the grille. They get ‘C-shaped’ LED DRL lighting elements that outline the headlight with the cube-like projector elements sitting inside it. The angular design language follows down below with a bumper that is sculpted with sharp creases. The cube-like LED fog lights sit in a triangular housing, and once again, Mahindra has neatly integrated the radar for the ADAS module in the middle of the bumper.

Side
In profile, the XUV 7XO looks very similar to the older XUV700. It still has a tall stance, clean wheel arches, and a body that flares slightly towards the rear. Some chrome on the windowline adds a nice contrast and you still get pop-out flush door handles. What this variant adds over the variants down below are bigger 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, that are wrapped around in a 235/55 R19 tyre profile.

The AX7 trim gets smaller 18-inch alloys, and you can read about all the details of the AX7 variant here. The lower AX3 variant sits on steel wheels, but with thicker side walls in the tyre and this detailed report will give you all you need to know about the one-above base AX3 variant of the XUV 7XO. And if you had your eyes set on the mid-spec AX5 variant, this story will provide you with every single detail.
Rear
The styling at the rear is similar to the electric XEV 9S. The detailing inside the tail lamps is much more intricate with new lighting patterns that sport a mixture of honey-comb like patterns with sleek LED bars. They aren’t connected by an LED, like you get in the XEV 9e, but there is a piano black panel between the two.

The rest of the design is pretty neat with a simple bumper that gets contrasting silver and black elements with a mesh-like styling. The one-lower AX7 T looks almost identical to this variant, but it misses out on a few things. Click here to find out.
Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7 L Colour Options
Mahindra offers the XUV 7XO in seven colour options: Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Desert Myst, Nebula Blue, Stealth Black, Midnight Black and Ruby Velvet.
All these colours are available in the top-spec AX7 L variant, and colours like the Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Desert Myst and Midnight Black also get a dual tone Stealth Black roof. You can check out the colours in detail, and the variant-wise distribution in this story.
Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7 L Interior
The cabin of the Mahindra XUV 7XO AX7 L feels like you’re sitting in a lounge. The dashboard gets a three screen layout, which is available from the base variant itself, and you can read about the details of the base AX variant here.

Coming back to the AX7 L, you’ll find a multi-tone treatment in the cabin with a mix of black-tan-white colour combination. The seats are draped in a tan-white colour scheme, while the steering gets a black-tan hue. The use of tan around the middle part of the dashboard that follows into the door trims gives the cabin a wraparound feel. You get piano black elements on the two-spoke steering wheel and centre console, which look great, but will prove tough to maintain.

This variant adds ambient lighting to the mix, and it’s not just for the sake of it. The treatment is extensive, extends into the second row, and really elevates the feel of the cabin at night with a plethora of colour options to choose from. And because this is a top-spec variant, there’s generous use of soft touch leatherette on the dashboard, door trims, armrest, steering wheel and seats.

This variant is available in both 6- and 7-seater options, and you should opt for the captain seat version if you’re going to be chauffeur driven for maximum comfort.
