Here’s How The Production-Spec New Maruti Celerio Will Look Like

Modified On Nov 11, 2021 10:31 AM By Tarun for Maruti Celerio

The next generation of the hatchback will get a complete makeover and a more powerful engine

Update (10/11/2021): Maruti has launched the second-gen Celerio with prices beginning from Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Read more about it here.

  • The new generation Maruti Celerio sheds the camouflage for the first time, showing its exterior design.

  • It has a honeycomb grille with a chrome strip, halogen headlamps, a tapering roof line and blacked out alloys.

  • The new Celerio looks like a conventional compact, ditching its boxy appearance.

  • It is expected to feature a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic AC, steering-mounted audio controls and a rear parking camera.

  • The hatchback could continue with its 67PS 1-litre petrol engine, and gain the 83PS 1.2-litre engine, both paired to 5-speed manual and AMT transmissions.

The next-gen Maruti Celerio has been spied completely undisguised for the first time. The hatchback will launch in September, just before the festive season.

The new Celerio can be seen with a honeycomb grille with a chrome strip, large droplet-shaped halogen headlamps, and a sloping bonnet. The side profile makes it look slightly larger than the current generation. You can also see a tapering roof line, power folding outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs) with integrated turn indicators and blacked-out (possibly 14-inch) alloys.

The rear profile gets a decently sized rear windscreen with a rear wiper, large tail lamps and a sculpted boot so that it doesn’t look flat. Moreover, the shape of the new Celerio looks more like a regular compact hatchback as it loses its boxy look.

The cabin of the new Celerio will also see a complete makeover with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic AC, steering-mounted audio controls, dual airbags, rear parking camera, and rear parking sensors.

The Celerio is expected to continue offering the 1-litre petrol engine making 67PS and 91Nm, and add the choice of the 83PS 1.2-litre petrol engine, like the Wagon R. A CNG option would likely be limited to the smaller engine. The transmission options for both engines could include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.

The new Maruti Celerio is expected to demand a premium over the current model’s range of Rs 4.66 lakh to Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will continue to rival the likes of the Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro, and Datsun GO as well as its sibling, the Wagon R.
