Made-in-India Maruti Suzuki Dzire Launched In South Africa, Gets A More Advanced CVT, But Toned Down Feature Suite

The South African-spec Suzuki Dzire lacks LED headlights, single-pane sunroof and 360-degree camera

• The South African-spec Dzire is priced between R224,900 to R266,900 (Rs 10.66 lakh to Rs 12.65 lakh - approximate conversion from South African Rand).

• Gets projector halogen headlights, black 15-inch alloy wheels, but lacks fog lamps.

• Interior design is the same with a black and beige theme and beige seat upholstery.

• The feature suite includes a smaller 7-inch touchscreen, cruise control, but misses out on a single-pane sunroof and a wireless phone charger.

• It gets 6 airbags (as standard) and rear parking sensors, but does not offer a 360-degree camera.

• Powered by the same engine but gets a more sophisticated CVT option.

After going on sale in the Philippines in April 2025, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been launched in South Africa. While the Dzire available in South Africa gets more-or-less the same design as the India-spec model, it misses out on a lot of amenities including a single-pane sunroof and 360-degree camera. However, the South Africa-spec Dzire does have an advantage up its sleeve, which we’ll be talking about a bit later in this report.

Let us take a look at all the similarities and differences between both Dzire editions, starting with the price:

The base variant of the South Africa-spec Dzire is about Rs 4 lakh more expensive than the Indian Dzire. The top-spec variant of the overseas model also asks a premium of up to Rs 2.50 lakh over the one we get here.

What’s Different?

While the overall design of the both Dzire iterations is the same, the South African-spec Dzire gets projector halogen headlights and black 15-inch alloy wheels, but lacks fog lamps or LED DRLs. In comparison, the India-spec model gets more premium looking LED headlights and similar-sized dual-tone alloy wheels.

Inside, the dashboard layout is also similar with a dual-tone black and beige hue. However, the South African Dzire does not get a silver trim on the dashboard, which makes the cabin look a tad less premium.

The South African-spec Dzire also comes with a smaller 7-inch touchscreen that is offered with the lower variants of the India-spec model. While a single-pane sunroof was one of the highlight features of the India-spec Dzire, the South Africa-spec model does not get it. A wireless phone charger, push-button start/stop and 360-degree camera are also missing on the African model.

The instrument cluster is the same with analogue dials and a multi-information display (MID). Also, the Indian model gets a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, which is missing on the Dzire available in South Africa.

But one major advantage the South African version gets over the India-spec model is that it gets a more sophisticated CVT (continuously variable automatic transmission) option, compared to the AMT (automated manual transmission) available in India. Here are the details:

What’s Similar?

As mentioned above, the exterior design is similar in both Dzire models. The Y-shaped LED tail lights connected via a chrome strip are also identical.

Inside, the dashboard layout and the beige fabric seat upholstery is common to both versions of the Dzire. Both the India-spec and South African-spec Dzire models get amenities such as auto AC with rear vents and cruise control.

The safety suite is also identical with features like 6 airbags (as standard), electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat anchorages and rear parking sensors.
