Hyundai Verna

The Hyundai Verna is one of the most popular mid-size sedans in India and has been a strong contender in the segment for years. With this facelift, Hyundai has given the Verna a slightly updated design and some new features to keep the sedan competitive in its segment. It continues to get petrol engine options, with the turbo-petrol mill being the top choice for enthusiasts. 

The new Verna aims to attract buyers who want a stylish sedan with modern technology, strong performance, and a comfortable cabin for everyday use as well as long drives. It continues to rival cars like the Honda City, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus.

The design of the 2026 Verna remains largely familiar but gets a few subtle updates to keep it fresh.

At the front, the familiar connected LED DRL strip, which stretches across the nose, remains unchanged. The headlamp cluster has been updated with a cleaner housing for the LED projector headlamps, LED turn indicators, and LED fog lamps. The all-black grille is larger than before before, while the bumper has received minor tweaks.

From the side, the Verna retains its sleek sedan proportions with a long wheelbase and a slightly coupe-like roofline. It continues to ride on 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, which now get a slightly different design.

At the rear, the sedan retains the connected LED tail lamps, boot lid mounted spoiler and prominent ‘Verna’ lettering across the boot lid, giving it a wide and modern appearance. This facelift also adds a faux diffuser with silver insert on the bumper to convey sporty intentions.

With the 2026 update, the Verna is now 30 mm longer, while the other dimensions remain unchanged.

The 2026 Hyundai Verna comes with two new colour options: Classy Blue and Titan Grey with a matte finish. These additions expand the sedan’s palette while retaining the existing shades of Starry Night, Titan Grey, Atlas White, and Titanium Black. Hyundai also offers a dual-tone paint scheme with a black roof, but this option is available only with the Atlas White exterior colour.

While the updates in this facelift aren’t major, they do give the Verna a slightly different look, without altering the overall styling too much. 

Inside, the 2026 Verna features a black and white cabin theme and the same dashboard layout seen on the model before the update. The cabin still looks modern and minimalistic with a clean design and premium touches.

One noticeable update is the new steering wheel featuring Hyundai’s Morse code logo, aligning the Verna with the brand’s latest design language seen in models like the new Hyundai Venue.

The Verna also offers a spacious cabin thanks to its 2670 mm wheelbase, ensuring good legroom for rear passengers. The seats remain comfortable, and the overall layout prioritises practicality and ease of use. The smart use of lighter shades across the cabin adds to the feeling of airiness inside.  

Features

The Verna facelift adds a few new convenience features while retaining its already extensive equipment list. The updates include memory function for the 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 4-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, a powered tailgate, and sunshades for the rear windows. These new features enhance overall comfort and convenience.

Other top features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (via a wired-to-wireless adapter), a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, and a single-pane electric sunroof. It also gets multi-colour ambient lighting, 8-speaker BOSE sound system, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and a wireless phone charger. Together, these features make the Verna one of the most feature-loaded sedans in its segment.

Safety has been further improved with this facelift. The sedan now comes with seven airbags including a new side centre airbag for the driver. The update also introduces new safety additions, such as a 360-degree camera with a blind-spot monitor and a built-in dashcam, enhancing overall visibility for the driver and safety.

In addition to these updates, the Verna continues with essential safety features including Electronic Stability Control (ESC), all-wheel disc brakes, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and front and rear parking sensors. The sedan also offers Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), which brings features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and forward collision warning to improve safety and convenience during everyday driving.  

The Verna continues to offer a 528-litre boot, making it one of the most practical sedans in the segment. The large luggage area can easily accommodate suitcases and bags for family trips.

The 2026 Verna continues with the same two petrol engine options as before: a naturally aspirated petrol and a more powerful turbocharged unit. 

The naturally aspirated engine is smooth and efficient, ideal for everyday driving, while the turbo-petrol engine delivers stronger performance for buyers who enjoy spirited driving.

Notably, the turbo-petrol engine is offered only with the top two variants, and the top-spec HX10 trim is available exclusively with automatic gearbox options.

The Verna facelift is available in 6 variants: HX2, HX4, HX6, HX6 Plus, HX8 and HX10.

Verna HX2

• Offered with the 1.5-litre NA petrol and manual transmission only

• Gets projector halogen headlamps, body-coloured door handles, dark-chrome radiator grille and 15-inch steel wheels with wheel covers.

• The cabin gets fabric upholstery and a dual-tone white and black theme, height-adjustable driver seat and rear centre armrest with cupholders

• Features include manual AC, auto headlamps, front and rear power windows, tilt-adjustable steering, USB Type-C charging ports and power-adjustable ORVMs.

• It gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill start assist, ESC, day/night IRVM and rear parking sensors

Verna HX4

• Powered by 1.5-litre NA petrol and manual transmission only

• Adds LED DRLs, LED taillamps, boot-lid spoiler and 15-inch silver alloy wheels.

• Interior gets sliding front centre armrest, cooled glovebox and rear AC vents

• Additional features include 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, semi-digital instrument cluster, single-pane sunroof and 4-speaker sound system, cruise control and steering-mounted audio controls.

• Also gets tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)

Verna HX6

• Comes with 1.5-litre NA petrol paired to manual or CVT gearbox options.

• Exterior gets dual-projector LED headlamps, silver door handles and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. 

• Gets leatherette-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, rear window sunshades and height-adjustable rear headrests inside.

• Equipped with powered boot-lid, push button start/stop, drive modes with paddle shifters (CVT only), wireless charger, ambient lighting, auto-dimming IRVM and power-folding ORVMs.

• Adds safety tech like rear view camera and front parking sensors.

Verna HX6 Plus

• Powered by 1.5-litre NA petrol engine with MT and CVT options.

• Interior finished in leatherette upholstery.

• Equipped with 8-speaker BOSE sound system and ventilated front seats

Verna HX8

• Comes with 1.5-litre NA Petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines with manual and automatic transmissions for both.

• Exterior bits include 16-inch dark grey alloys with red brake calipers (turbo-petrol only).

• Interior finished in Black and Red theme (turbo-petrol only).

• Features added include 8-way powered driver seat with memory, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay (via wired-to-wireless adapter) and connected car tech.

• Safety enhanced for turbo-petrol models with Level 2 ADAS, rear disc brakes and electronic parking brake (EPB).

Verna HX10

• Gets both 1.5-litre NA petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines, but with automatic gearboxes only.

• Added features include: 4-way power-adjustable co-driver seat with boss mode and 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

• Safety suite gets 7 airbags, 360-degree camera and blind view monitor.

• Pick the second-from-base HX4 variant if budget is tight, as it gets you all the essential features with some goodies like cruise control and a sunroof.

• Go for the HX8 variant for the best overall package, as it doesn’t miss out on much and is available with the full range of engine and transmission options. 

• Consider the HX10 only if you absolutely want all the features and tech on offer.
