The Dzire comes with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 82 PS and 112 Nm

Back in 2024 when the Maruti Dzire was launched in its new generation avatar, it got a new 3-cylinder engine that came with a reduced power output and more focus towards fuel efficiency. We had the manual variant of the Maruti Dzire with us and we put it through the paces to check whether its engine packs a punch in real-world conditions. Here’s what we found:

    Powertrain Options

The Maruti Dzire comes with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, the detailed specifications of which are as follows:

1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine

    Power

    82 PS

    Torque

    112 Nm

    Transmission

    5-speed MT / 5-speed AMT*

It also gets a CNG option that has a reduced output of 70 PS and 102 Nm and is mated with only the manual option.

We had the petrol-manual configuration of the Dzire with us and here’s how it performed in our real-life tests:

    Acceleration Tests

    Maruti Dzire driving

    Tests

    Outcome

    0-100 kmph

    13.39 seconds

    Quarter Mile

    18.82 seconds at 120.14 kmph

The Maruti Dzire completed a 0-100 kmph run in a little over 13 seconds. This is impressive as the new-generation Dzire is powered by a  3-cylinder engine that is built for extracting maximum fuel efficiency. The lack of performance, however, is more evident in the quarter mile timing of the subcompact sedan, where it took almost 19 seconds to reach the finish line.

    Braking Tests

    Tests

    Outcome

    0-100 kmph

    41.61 metres

    80-0 kmph

    26.53 metres

Although the Dzire takes some time to accelerate, the braking performance is solid as it takes less than 45 metres to come to a standstill from 100 kmph, while it takes a little more than 25 metres from 80 kmph to halt.

    Price And Rivals

The Maruti Dzire is priced between Rs 6.84 lakh and Rs 10.19 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) and it competes with the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor.
