  • The Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, and Maruti XL6 are the most fuel-efficient models in this comparison, especially in their CNG variants, which claim over 26 km/kg. Even their regular naturally aspirated petrol variants are quite efficient, with fuel efficiency figures of over 20 kmpl for both manual and automatic transmissions.

  • The Kia Carens Clavis stands out for offering the most diverse set of powertrain options, including naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel engines, along with manual, iMT, DCT, and automatic transmissions. However, none of these powertrains are as efficient as the Maruti and Toyota offerings.

  • Among the Clavis’ turbo-petrol variants, the 7-speed DCT returns 16.66 kmpl, which is a respectable figure for a performance-oriented powertrain. The iMT and manual versions of the same engine deliver slightly lower efficiency at 15.95 kmpl.

  • Diesel continues to be the most efficient fuel type for both the Carens and Clavis, with the Carens diesel-MT claiming 21.30 kmpl and the Clavis diesel-MT returning 19.54 kmpl.

  • The naturally aspirated petrol variant of the Clavis, with a 6-speed manual, is the least efficient among all the options listed here, delivering just 15.34 kmpl, significantly lower than even the automatic petrol variants of the Maruti and Toyota models.
