If you want a diesel-powered Carens, you’ll have to settle for the one-below-top HTX variant, which doesn’t get some niceties the HTX Plus offers
The 2025 Kia Carens Clavis debuted recently as the Korean carmaker’s second mass-market MPV offering that will go on sale on May 23, 2025. Kia has revealed the variant-wise features and the powertrain options these variants will have on offer during the MPV’s launch. A closer look at it will reveal that only the turbo-petrol engine will be offered with the fully-loaded HTX Plus trim of the Carens Clavis.
Hence, if you want a diesel engine with the top-end variant, you have no other choice, but to settle for the one-below-top HTX variant. This means you will miss on some niceties inside, which are as follows:
What It Misses Out On
As the diesel engine option is not offered with the HTX Plus trim, it misses out on the following amenities:
-
Captain seats in the middle row (six-seater option)
- Panoramic sunroof
-
Ventilated front seats
-
4-way electrically-adjustable driver’s seat
-
Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
-
8-speaker Bose sound system
-
Paddle shifters
-
Rain sensing wipers
While the diesel variant does not get all the aforementioned features, it gets the amenities mentioned below.
What Is Offered With The Diesel Variants?
Despite the diesel engine not being offered in the top-end HTX Plus variant, the HTX gets more than enough features to satisfy you:
-
All-LED lighting
-
17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels
-
Leathrette seat upholstery
-
Single-pane sunroof
-
12.3-inch digital driver’s display
-
12.3-inch infotainment system
-
Automatic climate control
-
6-speaker sound system (including 2 tweeters)
-
Wireless phone charger
-
6 airbags (as standard)
-
360-degree camera with blind spot monitor
-
Dual-camera dashcam
This variant gets all the basics including 12.3-inch screens, single-pane sunroof and a 360-degree camera. We think that if Kia prices the Carens Clavis appropriately (which it has done for other models over the years), the HTX could be one of the most value-for-money variants in the MPV’s lineup.
