The recently unveiled Kia Clavis is offered in seven variants: HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK Plus, HTK Plus (O), HTX and HTX Plus. Pre-launch bookings are open and the premium MPV is set to be launched on May 23. In this report, we are going to take a look at what the entry-level Kia Carens Clavis HTE variant comes packing with in terms of features, colours and specifications.
Kia Carens Clavis HTE: Design Aspects
Even though we are yet to see the base variant in real life or through the configurator, Kia’s brochure has confirmed that this variant will get halogen headlights. It will not get LED DRLs as it is offered from the mid-spec HTK variant onwards.
When it comes to wheel options, the Clavis’ diesel base variant comes with 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers. If you opt for the naturally aspirated petrol engine, then these are replaced with 15-inch gloss black alloys. The indicators are mounted on front fenders and the door handles are finished in body colour.

While LED tail lamps are standard across the lineup, the illuminated light bar is not offered in this variant.
Inside, the base Clavis gets a black and beige colour scheme. The seats are of the semi-leatherette variant and are finished in a black and navy blue hue. Do note that the base Kia Clavis gets only a 7-seater option as the 6-seater version is limited to the top-spec HTX Plus variant.
Kia Carens Clavis HTE: Features Onboard
Kia has got the bases covered in the entry-level Clavis. Feature highlights include a semi-digital instrument cluster with a multi-info display, manual AC with separate fan control for rear-seat occupants, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, a height adjustable driver’s seat, rear sunshades, power windows on all four doors as well as remote locking and unlocking.
Despite the Kia Carens Clavis being marketed as a more previous version of the Carens, the base model misses out on an infotainment system. For reference, the entry-level Kia Syros sub-4 metre SUV, which sits one step above the Kia Sonet goes the distance by offering a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment right from the base model.
