Maruti And Tata Cars Topped The List Of Best-selling Compact And Midsize Hatchbacks In February 2024
Only two models on this list managed to go past the 10,000-unit sales mark in February 2024
The sales figures for the compact and midsize hatchbacks are out for February 2024, and as usual, Maruti not only topped the list but also dominated the sales chart, with four models out of six. A popular Tata hatchback also made it to the top three ranks last month. Here's the detailed sales report for compact and midsize hatchbacks in January 2024:

The Maruti Wagon R retained its position as the top-selling hatchback in India in February 2024. More than 19,000 units of the hatchback were sold last month, and it registered positive growth of 15 percent and 9 percent in year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM) sales, respectively.

Maruti dispatched more than 13,000 units of the Swift hatchback last month making it the second best-selling hatchback in India. That said, its MoM and YoY sales still dipped by 14 percent and 28 percent, respectively.

The Tata Tiago overtook Hyundai Grand i10 Nios with nearly 7,000 units dispatched last month. Though the Tiago’s MoM sales grew by 7 percent, it fell short by 500-odd units to equal its February 2023 sales. Do note that these figures also include the sales numbers of the Tata Tiago EV.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios slipped to fourth spot in the sales table in February 2024, with nearly 5,000 units dispatched. The hatchback’s MoM figure dropped by nearly 2,000 units, while its YoY sales also dipped by 49 percent.

The Maruti Celerio’s February 2024 sales also took a hit, with a drop of 19 percent and 20 percent in MoM and YoY sales, respectively.

The Maruti Ignis took the last spot in the sales table registering total sales of a little over 2,000 units in February 2024. The Ignis also faced a decline of 500 units in MoM sales, while its yearly sales also went down by nearly 56 percent units.
