If you are eyeing a new car in the near future, you might want to hold your purchase. The remaining part of 2019 is going to witness multiple launches across segments and who knows one of these might just be the one you were looking for. Here’s a look at their tentative launch date, expected prices and necessary details.  

Next-Gen Hyundai Grand i10 To Launch On 20 August

Expected Prices: Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh

The mid-size hatchback space are going to see tough competition with the launch of the Renault Triber. To cope up with it, Hyundai will launch the new generation the Grand i10 on 20 August. It will be wearing redesigned exterior and interior with additional features (expected to get an 8-inch touchscreen with Blue Link connected tech) while the engines are expected to remain unchanged. An AMT might surface in place of the archaic 4-speed AT as an option for both the petrol and diesel engine.

Kia Seltos

ETA: 22 August

Expected Prices: Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh

Slated for launch on August 22, the Seltos will mark the first steps for Kia in India. It has received a properly positive response that too within just a day of the commencement of its bookings. The credit for this response goes to the multiple engines (1.4-litre turbo petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and diesel), numerous transmissions (6-speed MT and torque converter AT, CVT and 7-speed DCT) along with a host of segment-first goodies (10.25-inch touchscreen, HUD mode, Bose speakers, sound mood lighting and more.

Expected Prices: Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh

The premium hatchback space has been a bit dormant these past few years but that will change with the Tata Altroz that is bound to debut in August. The Altroz will pack a 1.2-litre petrol engine in both turbocharged and naturally aspirated avatars along with a 1.5-litre diesel. These engines are already serving duty in the Nexon and Tiago. The Altroz’ features list like projector headlamps with DRLs, 7-inch touchscreen, climate and cruise control with rear AC vents will be on par with rivals. It will lock horns with the likes of the Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz.

Renault Triber: 5 Things You Should Know

Expected Prices: Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh

The Renault Triber aims to play the modularity card like no other car in its price bracket before. It will be packing cabin versatility (60:40, 50:50 split and more) in aces and topping it off with some segment-first features like a refrigerator and dedicated AC vents even for the third row. It’s going to be a petrol-only offering with an AMT option as well. Despite its sub-compact origins, it has enough cabin space to give a tough competition to cars a segment above. Keeping its pricing in mind, the Triber will be a spacious alternative to Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Swift and Ford Figo. We expect Renault to launch the Triber in the next couple of months.

The Elantra facelift that has been on sale in international markets for quite some time will surface here by the festive season. It gets radical updates on the outside, subtle changes on the inside and no difference in the petrol engine. That said, the diesel on offer will be a new smaller BS6 1.5-litre Smartstream unit from the Kia Seltos. The Elantra will continue to compare against the Skoda Octavia and Honda Civic. 

New Maruti Alto Spied, Gets Renault Kwid-like Styling

Expected Prices: Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh

Based on Maruti’s Future-S concept, the S-Presso is likely to be launched in the festive season. It will stack up between the Alto and the WagonR and feature a crossover-ish design similar to the Renault Kwid. It will feature a funky interior layout with a rotund housing for the infotainment and semi-rotund for the instrument cluster. Safety net will comprise of the dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors as standard as per the norms.

Expected Prices: Rs 2.75 lakh to Rs 4.80 lakh

The Kwid has been in the market for more than four years and due for a facelift and that is exactly what Renault plans to do this festive season. With the competition bound to intensify with the launch of the new Maruti S-Presso, the Kwid facelift will feature exterior updates similar to its electric sibling, the City K-ZE. Interiors might see a slight update but the powertrains will remain the same 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre units.

Honda thinks it can enter the mid-size SUV party late and still turn heads with the HR-V. The urban looking SUV has been spied testing multiple times in India over the past few months and is expected to debut by the year-end. Expected Prices: Rs 13.50 lakh to Rs 17 lakh

The extended version of the Tata Harrier should be here by the end of this year with a price premium of around Rs 1 lakh over the latter. It’s going to be based on the same OMEGA ARC platform but will be longer and taller than the Harrier by 63mm and 80mm but the wheelbase remains the same. Under its hood should be the BS6 compliant version of the 2.0-litre diesel engine that delivers 170PS of power (up from 140PS) and 350Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic option is expected with the diesel engine.

After making a mark all around the world, the Nissan Leaf is on its way to the Indian showrooms in the next few months. It packs a 40kWh lithium-ion battery pack that claims to have a range of around 400km (according to Japanese JC08 test cycle) and a good deal of equipment including an e-pedal that lets you accelerate and decelerate through a single pedal. Mahindra, one of the earliest movers in the EV space in India has been quiet for some time now. It also had to pull the plug on its e20 Plus earlier this year but that’s about to change with the eKUV which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The EV is likely to have a range of around 140km with fast charging abilities. It is expected to be priced around the Rs 10 lakh ballpark.

Expected Prices: Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh The MG Hector has made such an impact that the SUV is already sold out for the year 2019 and the bookings have been temporarily halted. But there will be another sibling to the SUV that will come wielding electric power, the eZS which will get features similar to the global-spec model by December 2019. It will be packing iSMART connected tech as well, so buyers will get remote engine start, remote AC control, OTA updates and more. It packs a 44.5kWh battery pack which is bigger than the recently launched Hyundai Kona which should take it around 6.5 hours to fully juice up through an AC charger. DC charger will take around 40 minutes though to fuel up 80 per cent charge.
