Land Rover has unveiled the Defender Octa globally, marking it as the most powerful production-spec Defender to date, powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine.

What are the different variants of the Defender, and how much do they cost?

The Land Rover Defender comes in three body styles in India: 90, 110, and 130. 

It is offered in these variants in all body styles: 

  • SE

  • HSE

  • X-Dynamic

  • X

  • Outbound

  • V8

  • V8 Carpathian

  • new Octa 

It is also available with a limited-run Octa Edition One.

What features does the Land Rover Defender get?

Key features onboard the Defender include an 11.4-inch touchscreen with inbuilt navigation as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a six-speaker audio system, 14-way adjustable front seats with heated and cooled captain seats and an air purifier.

What engine and transmission does the Land Rover Defender offer?

The Land Rover Defender comes in five engine options:

  • A 2-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol: 300 PS and 400 Nm

  • A 3-litre six-cylinder diesel with 48V mild-hybrid tech: 350 PS and 700 Nm

  • A 5-litre V8 petrol: 425 PS and 550 Nm

  • A 5-litre supercharged V8 petrol: 525 PS and 625 Nm

  • A 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with mild-hybrid tech: 635 PS and 750 Nm

How safe is the Land Rover Defender?

The Land Rover Defender was crash-tested by Euro NCAP in 2020 where it scored a five-star safety rating. However, it is yet to be crash-tested by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP.

However, it gets multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera with park assist, electronic traction control, cornering braking control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and dynamic stability control. It also gets an advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) suite including features like driver drowsiness detection.
