Although SUVs have been all the craze in recent years, sedans too have their fair share of admirers and buyers in our market. While the mass-market space has only eight major sedan nameplates in India now, they still account for an average of over 30,000 unit sales every month. In this story, let’s check out how each mass-market sedan performed in July 2025 sales:

  • The Maruti Dzire has been crowned the best-selling mass-market sedan with total sales of nearly 20,900 units in July 2025. Its MoM figure jumped by a mammoth 79 percent, while its YoY number increased by 35 percent. For reference, the Dzire was also the highest-selling car in India in July 2025.

  • Next on the list is the Hyundai Aura with unit sales of over 4,600 units. Its MoM number dropped by 14 percent and its YoY sales reduced by three percent.

  • Another sub-4m sedan here was the Honda Amaze with total dispatches of 2,000-odd units. It witnessed a drop in both MoM and YoY sales by 12 and 14 percent, respectively.

  • The Volkswagen Virtus recorded close to 1,800 unit sales in July 2025. Although its MoM and YoY figures went up, they grew only by a mere one and two percent, respectively.

  • Close on the heels of the Volkswagen Virtus was its sibling, the Skoda Slavia, with sales of 1,100-odd units. The Slavia’s MoM number increased by 30 percent, and its YoY figure improved by 47 percent, which is the highest on this list.

  • The Tata Tigor nameplate witnessed total sales of more than 950 units, which was nearly 200 units more than the total sales in June 2025. Its MoM figure increased by 23 percent but its YoY number reduced by a huge 35 percent. Do note that these sales numbers also include those of the Tata Tigor EV.

  • Another Hyundai sedan on this list was the Hyundai Verna with cumulative sales of over 800 units in July 2025. While its MoM number went up by only two percent, it saw the highest drop of 42 percent in YoY sales during the same period.

  • The last sedan on this chart was the Honda City with close to 650 units sold in July 2025. Both its MoM and YoY figures dipped by nine and 32 percent, respectively. Do note that these numbers also include the sales data of the Honda City Hybrid too.
