The Level-2 ADAS suite is offered in the top-spec HTX Plus variant of the premium MPV, paired with the DCT option of the turbo-petrol engine
The Kia Carens Clavis went on sale recently with seven broad variants: HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK Plus, HTK Plus (O), HTX and HTX Plus. Prices of the premium MPV range between Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 21.50 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India). Like the other models of the carmaker, the Clavis also gets a lot of features, including a Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that is a first for the Carens nameplate. However, not every powertrain option in the HTX Plus variant gets the driver assistance suite.
What Powertrains Do Not Get ADAS In The Top Variant?
The fully-loaded trim is available only with the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that is mated either with a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual transmission) or a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch automatic transmission). Notably, the ADAS suite is offered only with the DCT and hence, if you opt for the manual or the iMT option, you’ll have to compromise on the driver assistance features.
The ADAS suite in the Kia Carens Clavis is equipped with amenities such as front collision warning, driver attention warning, lane keep assist, high beam assist and adaptive cruise control.
What the manual and iMT choices get over the DCT is a dual-camera dashcam setup that can be operated through a smartphone application.

It is also equipped with a wireless phone charger, auto AC and all-LED lights.
In terms of safety, the HTX Plus trim gets 6 airbags (as standard), 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and disc brakes on all wheels.
