Hyundai India Retailed 1,50,000 Elite i20s Since Its Launch!

Hyundai Motor India has announced that they have sold over 1,50,000 units of the second generation i20 aka Elite i20. These figures are just the domestic sales figures, and do not include the export ones! The hatchback made its world premier in the country in March 2014 and has also earned the honour of the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2015. The South Korean automaker says that Hyundai i20 now commands 66% market share in the premium compact segment in the Indian auto market.

Commenting on the strong sales performance and brand success, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales Marketing, HMIL said, “We are overwhelmed with the customer’s response by receiving unprecedented 150,000 domestic sales for the Elite i20. This reflects the strong customer connect and confidence on Hyundai products. We thank customers, channel partner, employees and media who have chosen our product Elite i20 making it as a super performer brand in India and who have contributed to this landmark achievement.”

In the recent months, Hyundai Elite i20 has faced tough competition from Honda Jazz and the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The automaker has also introduced touchscreen infotainment system in the Elite i20 and i20 Active range after the re-introduction of Honda Jazz couple of months ago. Though competition is getting tougher after the introduction of Jazz and Baleno but Elite i20 continues to lead the premium hatchback sales chart in the country.

Zica, Tata's upcoming hatchback can cause this sales streak to break. Tata Zica Specifications are officially out and look promising.
