The most awaited lifestyle SUV since the Thar is going to enter the market in June

Approaching the midway point of 2023, we’re going to see some important launches and unveils from the biggest brands. Maruti’s most awaited model launch of recent years is finally happening in June, and we’ll see two brand-new SUVs from Hyundai and Honda. In the luxury space, an iconic nameplate from Mercedes-Benz is making a comeback to the country. 

Here are the three debuts lined up for the month of June:

Finally, after four years, the Gypsy’s replacement is launching in India. Maruti revealed the Jimny in an India-specific five-door avatar at the Auto Expo 2023. The SUV gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which develops 105PS and 134Nm of performance while being paired with 5-speed manual and 4-speed AT options. The Jimny uses the 4X4 drivetrain with a low range gearbox as standard. In terms of features, buyers will get LED headlamps with a washer, a 9-inch touchscreen system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six airbags, and a rear parking camera. The most capable Maruti is expected to be priced from around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

We’re going to see the all-new Honda Elevate in its entirety on June 6. After six years, we’re getting a brand new Honda, which is going to enter the compact SUV space. The Elevate will be a petrol-only offering and will borrow the City’s 1.5-litre iVTEC unit. One can also expect the sedan’s strong hybrid technology on offer, possibly introduced sometime after the launch. In terms of features, the SUV will get an electric sunroof, possibly along with a large touchscreen system, wireless charging, a digital driver’s display, up to six airbags, and ADAS. 

Mercedes Benz AMG SL55

Mercedes Benz AMG SL55

After 12 years, the iconic ‘SL’ nameplate is heading back to India. The seventh-generation Mercedes Benz SL will make the Indian debut in its AMG 55 4MATIC+ guise, which uses all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering as standard. Under the hood, is a monstrous 4-litre twin-turbo V8 which can make it zoom from a standstill to 100kmph in just 3.9 seconds. Price? Expected to be around a whopping Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom).
