    Renault B58 hatchback to take on small cars in India

    The Indian auto market is buzzing with the news that Renault is all set and geared up to launch a hatchback car for B and B+ segment in India, which is said to be codenamed as Renault B58. It is expected that Renault’s B58 will give a tough fight to Maruti Swift.

    The major highlights of Renault B58 include in its 2 variants, 1.2 petrol engine and 1.5 litre diesel engine variant. The platform of B58 is a V-platform, which is supports Nissan Micra, Nissan Almera, and Nissan Sunny.

    The new Renault B58 will also come with a tall boy kind of design quite familiar to Maruti Wagon R. As per the reports, the design of this hatchback car has been finished in Mumbai. It is being said that the design and other features of Renault B58 will be well suited for the Indian conditions. The marketing process of Renault B58 is still going on and there are chances that Renault might change the name of this exquisite hatchback car.

    According to the grapevine, coming in collaboration with Renault Duster and the B+ section sedan, the Renault B58 hatchback is expected to become the lower half of Renault India’s product line. Apparently, this hatchback car of Renault will be showcased in New Delhi in 2012 at the Auto Expo. The official launch could be done more than 3 months after the show.

    Renault India is also planning to expand its dealership to 1000 by late 2012 and is eyeing on grabbing the spot in the list of being the non Indian car manufacturer to offer low cost cars in India. Renault B58 is likely to be a very tough competition not only to Maruti Swift, but also to small cars such as Maruti Alto and Hyundai Santro.
