Expanding its global portfolio in India and keeping up with their promise of launching 12 new cars in 2016, Mercedes-Benz has launched a new petrol variant of the S-Class called the S400 at Rs 1.31 Cr(ex-showroom Hyderabad)

The S400 is powered by a 3.0-litre petrol V6 engine which produces 333 bhp of power and 480 Nm of torque. It is more efficient than the S500 which comes with a 4.7-litre V8 petrol unit and uses the same 7-speed GTronic transmission as seen in the S500. Internationally, the S400 has a hybrid version as well but Mercedes has not launched the same in India as of now.

Napa leather wrapped cabin, a high-resolution 31.2-cm TFT display with Mercedes’ COMAND infotainment system, reclining seats with massage function and loads of other luxury features ensure that you are sitting in the lap of luxury whether you are driving or being chauffeured around.

Roland Folger, MD and CEO , Mercedes Benz India said," Mercedes-Benz believes in introducing the latest products and variants in the market at regular intervals, to keep customer interest and curiosity intact in the brand. This strategy we firmly believe has contributed to our unmatched success in India. With the launch of the S400, we further extend the S-Class model range and also bolster our strong presence in the prestigious S-class segment. The S400 symbolizes benchmark craftsmanship, affluence and grandeur. No other car stands for the Mercedes-Benz brand promise more than the S-Class".

Mercedes Benz India had launched 15 cars in 2015 and the company plans to bring in 12 new models in 2016. The GLE 450 AMG was the first Mercedes vehicle that was launched this year in January and the Mercedes S400 is part of the same plan. The S-Class competes with the BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 and the Jaguar XJ in the luxury sedan category. BMW also launched the new 7-Series at the 2016 Auto Expo in February at Rs. 1.1 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
