Maruti Suzuki displayed the Ciaz Concept
Maruti Suzuki displayed the Ciaz concept, early morning on the very first Media day of the 12th Indian Auto Expo 2014. The concept showcases the company's movement to towards luxury sedans in India.
The company entered into the D segment with kizashi, but due to CBU import and high prices the car failed to gain any acceptance, with this concept the company would be planning to produce it locally to keep the prices as low as possible.
After capturing the small car segment, country's largest manufacturing Maruti Suzuki is now gearing up to unveil its SX4 replacement car. The new concept car is christened as “Ciaz”, it is derived from the Suzuki’s Authentics concept displayed at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. It will be the base for the SX4 replacement which is codenamed as YL1 and it has been spotted several times camouflaged.
Maruti Suzuki currently corresponds to approximately half of the small car sales in the Indian Auto Sector, however the company failed to mark its name in C segment sedan space. The SX4 failed to generate magical number in the company's sales chart.
The company is working hard to bring Ciaz inspired sedan, equipped with best-in-class features which would hit on Honda City, Hyundai Verna and others. The vehicle is expected to launch around the festive season.
Inside the cabin, the car is expected to share bits and pieces with Swift, while under the hood, the car carries its tried and tested, 1.4 litre K14 petrol engine that also does duty in Ertiga.
This petrol engine produces a power output of 94bhp and 130Nm of peak torque. In diesel variants, it is expected that the company might bring 1.6-litre Fiat's MJD (Multi-Jet Diesel) engine or the existing 1.3 liter MJD (DDIS) mill that churns out a power of 89bhp.
