Maruti Dzire is the only sedan to post monthly growth in April 2025, with more units sold than the combined numbers of all other mass-market sedans
The car sales data for April 2025 is out and Maruti Dzire remained the bestselling mass-market sedan in India once again. Not only did the Dzire sell better than all other mass-market sedans, but it was also the only model in the list to record month-on-month growth. Meanwhile, the overall monthly sales of the segment dipped by about 10 percent in April 2025.

The Virtus’s Czech-sibling, the Skoda Slavia, had a similarly tough month in sales, with over 1000 units sold in April 2025. Unlike Virtus, both its MoM and YoY sales figures dropped by up to 16 percent.

The Hyundai Verna saw sales of just over 1000 units of the compact sedan in April 2025. It recorded an MoM decline of 26 percent whereas the YoY took a bigger 36 percent drop.

The Honda City remains the most affected sedan on this list in April 2025. The carmaker failed to cross even over the 500 unit mark with the model, hence marking the highest monthly sales drop by 65 percent.
Overall, sedan sales dropped by over 2,600 units in April 2025 compared to March 2025, marking a month-on-month decline of around 9 percent.
