• In the entry trims, the Scorpio N Facelift is priced at Rs 13.69 lakh while the Thar Roxx is priced at Rs 12.52 lakh, making the Thar Roxx more affordable by Rs 1.17 lakh. 

• Even at the top-end trim, we can see that the Scorpio N Facelift is priced higher at Rs 25.49 lakh and the Thar Roxx at Rs 23.52 lakh, making it more affordable by Rs 1.97 lakh. 

Dimensions

• The Scorpio N Facelift is 234 mm longer and 47 mm wider than the Thar Roxx, giving it a larger road presence and drawing more attention on the road.

• The Thar Roxx has more height compared to the Scorpio N Facelift, giving it a more upright SUV stance. 

• The Roxx also has a larger wheelbase (by 100 mm), which gives us better rear seat legroom, overall cabin space and highway stability during our real-world test.

• The Scorpio N Facelift is offered in 5 colour options, while the Thar Roxx is being offered in a broader range of 7 colour options.

• The Oceanic shade and the Galaxy Grey colour option for the Scorpio N are new in the Facelift.

Powertrain Options

MT- Manual Transmission, AT- Automatic Transmission (torque converter)

• Both the Scorpio N Facelift and the Thar Roxx are offered with the same engine options: a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine option. 

• The Scorpio N Facelift’s turbo-petrol engine produces 203 PS, making it more powerful than the Thar Roxx’s turbo-petrol engine, but the torque figures are identical. 

• Both the SUVs have the same power output for the diesel engines. 

• Both the Scorpio N Facelift and the Thar Roxx are being offered with a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. 

• In our test, both the SUVs reached three-digit speeds effortlessly, with good ride quality and great handling. 

With our extensive road test, we felt that the Scorpio N and the Thar Roxx are both SUVs built for two entirely different sets of customers. Even though both are offered with four-wheel-drive capability, the Scorpio N Facelift feels like an SUV suitable for comfortable long road trips with family, occasional off-roading and a weekend bash. While the Thar Roxx is more of an off-road-centric SUV with adventure DNA. 

Features 

• Well, in our real-world test, we found that both the SUVs are well equipped with features, such as automatic LED headlamps, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, connected car tech features, a panoramic sunroof, large infotainment screens, a fully digital instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger, 6-way powered driver seats and ventilated front seat facility. 

• We felt many important features were missing with the outgoing Scorpio N. Thankfully, with the facelift, they have added features like the 540-degree camera, a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen (which replaced the older 8-inch unit), a fully digital instrument cluster, and there is now a Type-C charger in the front as well.

• The Scorpio N is now equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, while the Thar Roxx is equipped with a smaller 10.25-inch infotainment screen. 

• The Scorpio N Facelift is offered with a better-sounding 12-speaker Sony sound system, while the Thar Roxx is offered with a 9-speaker Harman Kardon Sound system. 

• The Thar Roxx, being a lifestyle SUV, gets larger 19-inch wheels compared to the more comfortable 18-inch setup that we get with the Scorpio N Facelift.

• Even in terms of safety, both the SUVs are well equipped with Level 2 ADAS, 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera for the Thar Roxx and a 540-degree camera for the Scorpio N Facelift, front and rear parking sensors and a rear defogger. 

• The Thar Roxx has secured a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP, making it one of the safest lifestyle SUVs in India. 

• The outgoing Scorpio N has secured a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP, and we expect that the Scorpio N Facelift would also carry that glory because it has the same underpinnings.

CarDekho Says…

In our experience with both the Scorpio N and the Thar Roxx, we found that both the SUVs have proper off-roading DNA. However, both cars have a completely different character. 

Speaking about the Scorpio N Facelift, the SUV is more or less the same as the previous model, now with all the essentials packed in to place itself well among the rivals. The SUV handles well, is suitable for long family tours and even daily office trips.

The Thar Roxx is more of a lifestyle-oriented vehicle, an offroader with predictable performance and a smooth power delivery, which is great for an SUV of this size.
