Kia recently unveiled the 2025 Carens Clavis as a second mass-market MPV option alongside the Carens. Compared to the Carens, it offers more features and will be offered in seven broad variants: HTE, HTE (O), HTK, HTK Plus, HTK Plus (O), HTX and HTX Plus. The base HTE variant of the Kia Carens Clavis comes with halogen headlights, front and rear skid plates, and 16-inch steel wheels with covers . However, if you pick the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with this variant, you get 15-inch black alloy wheels instead. While the base variant does not offer an infotainment system, it does come with a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch MID. You also get convenience features like keyless entry, powered windows for the front and second rows, and sunshades for the second row.

Over the HTE variant, the HTE (O) variant of the Carens Clavis gets additions like an 8-inch infotainment system, a 6-speaker sound system, and a rear parking camera. It also features steering-mounted audio controls, a shark fin antenna, and electrically adjustable ORVMs.

Over the HTE(O) trim, the Carens Clavis HTK further improves convenience with auto AC and a one-touch up/down function for the driver-side window. It also features a dual-tone black and beige cabin theme, while safety is enhanced with the addition of front parking sensors.

Over the HTK variant, the HTK Plus comes equipped with additional features like remote engine start, auto-fold function for the ORVMs, and push-button start/stop. Automatic transmission variants also get drive modes and an electronic parking brake. Other than that, you get the same interior as the HTK variant.

Kia Carens Clavis HTK Plus (O)

Although not many, but there are some significant additions in the HTK Plus (O) variant over the HTK Plus trim of the Carens Clavis. These include 17-inch alloy wheels, a single-pane sunroof and a wireless phone charger.

The one-below-top HTX variant gets upgraded to a host of features. Exterior updates include an LED headlight setup, while interior additions consist of leatherette seat upholstery, a panoramic sunroof (for turbo-petrol variants only), and 64-colour ambient lighting. You also get a larger infotainment system, a digital driver's display, along with a 360-degree camera setup and a dual-camera dashcam.

Although there are no changes to the exterior of the top-spec HTX Plus variant, its interior gets an option of a 6-seater configuration with captain seats for the 2nd row. Additional features include ventilated front row seats, 4-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and level-2 ADAS suite with amenities including adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance, and lane keep assist.

The Kia Carens Clavis is expected to be priced from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will take on the likes of the Maruti Ertiga, Maruti XL6, and Toyota Rumion, while being a more affordable option to the Toyota Innova Crysta, Maruti Invicto and Toyota Innova Hycross.
