From cars whose sunroof brings back childhood memories, to the ones that make light shows, this list has everything

The Indian automotive industry has been adding more and more features in its new cars to keep up with the fast moving global technological upgrades, and one feature that has become a favourite in the last couple of years is a panoramic sunroof.
From the subcompact SUV segment to luxury models, almost all cars now come equipped with a large sunroof, and if you’re planning to buy a new car that comes with this feature, we have made a list of the 10 best cars in the Indian market with a panoramic sunroof.
Tata Sierra
Variants: Pure +, Adventure, Adventure +, Accomplished, and Accomplished +
Price: Rs 14.49 lakh Onwards
The most recently launched car in this list is the Tata Sierra. It comes with a large panoramic sunroof which is more than just a feature. It is a design choice that mimics the OG Sierra which had a unique look thanks to its wrap around glass roof.
The Sierra also gets features like a triple screen setup, dual-zone climate control, an AR-based head-up display, a 12-speaker JBL Black sound system, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems).
It can be had with petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel engine options, and an all-wheel-drive version of the compact SUV is also expected to be launched soon along with its electric counterpart.
Mahindra XUV 3XO
Variants: AX7 and AX7 Luxury
Price: Rs 11.66 lakh to Rs 14.40 lakh
The Mahindra XUV 3XO, formally known as the XUV300, was the first car to bring a panoramic sunroof in the subcompact SUV segment when it was facelifted back in 2024. At that time, the 3XO was the most affordable car to come with this feature, but that throne was soon taken away.
It also gets dual 10.25-inch screens (touchscreen infotainment and digital driver’s display), dual-zone climate control, a Harman Kardon sound system, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS. The XUV 3XO is available with both petrol and diesel engine options.
Tata Nexon
Variants: Creative Plus PS and Fearless Plus PS
Price: Rs 11.25 lakh to Rs 14.15 lakh
To compete with the Mahindra XUV 3XO, the Tata Nexon also added a panoramic sunroof in its top-spec variants a while back. Not only this, Tata also priced those variants lower than the XUV 3XO to become one of the most affordable cars in India equipped with a panoramic sunroof.
Other features of this subcompact SUV include automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, rear sunblinds, a wireless phone charger, a JBL sound system, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS. Just like the XUV 3XO, the Tata Nexon is also available with both petrol and diesel engine options.
Kia Syros
Variants: HTK +, HTX, HTX +, and HTX + (O)
Price: Rs 10.74 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh
The only other model in the subcompact SUV segment with a panoramic sunroof, and the most affordable car in India with this feature, is the Kia Syros. This subcompact SUV is unlike the others in its segment as it sets benchmarks due to its premium cabin and best in class space.
It gets both petrol and diesel powertrains and other features include a triple screen setup with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, and a 5-inch climate control display. It also gets a wireless phone charger, both front and rear (base only) seat ventilation, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.
Maruti Victoris
Variants: ZXi (O) and ZXi + (O)
Price: Rs 14.08 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh
Moving back to the compact SUV segment, the last car to enter this segment before the Sierra is the Maruti Victoris. It also features a panoramic sunroof in its higher trims and if you confuse it with the Maruti Grand Vitara, then know that it is more premium and better equipped than its sibling.
Other features in the Victoris include a powered driver’s seat, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a head-up display, a wireless phone charger, auto AC, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.
While there is no diesel engine on offer, you can get the Victoris with these engine options: strong hybrid petrol, mild hybrid petrol, mild hybrid petrol all-wheel-drive, and CNG.
Hyundai Creta
Variants: EX (O), S (O), S (O) Knight, SX, SX Tech, SX Premium, SX (O), King, and King Knight
Price: Rs 12.52 lakh to Rs 20.20 lakh
We can’t talk about popular cars with panoramic sunroofs and not mention arguably the most popular car in India – the Hyundai Creta. The Creta has been the go to family SUV since its inception in 2015 thanks to its modern design, premium and spacious cabin experience, and segment leading features. And yes, it comes with a large panoramic sunroof.
It also gets dual-zone climate control, dual 10.25-inch screens (touchscreen infotainment and digital driver’s display), a BOSE sound system, ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, Level 2 ADAS, and a 360-degree camera.
The Creta comes with naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel engine options. You can also go for the Creta N Line if you want a sportier looking SUV or you can pick the Creta Electric if you want to drive the most powerful and most eco-friendly version of the compact SUV.
Maruti Grand Vitara / Toyota Hyryder
Variants (Grand Vitara): Zeta (O), Alpha (O), Alpha AllGrip (O), Zeta + (O), and Alpha + (O).
Price: Rs 14.28 lakh to Rs 19.72 lakh
Variants (Hyryder): G (O) and V
Price: Rs 14.23 lakh to Rs 19.76 lakh
Essentially the same cars with different brand badges, the Maruti Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder were the only two cars in their segment to offer strong hybrid and all-wheel-drive powertrains before the Maruti Victoris came along. And just like the Victoris, these two also come with a panoramic sunroof.
Both these SUVs share the same feature list which includes a 9-inch touchscreen, a head-up display, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and a wireless phone charger. While there is no ADAS on offers, both SUVs do come with a 360-degree camera setup.
As for powertrain options, it remains the same as the Victoris: mild hybrid petrol, strong hybrid petrol, mild hybrid petrol all-wheel-drive, and CNG.
Kia Carens Clavis
Variants: HTX, HTX (O), and HTX +
Price: Rs 13.87 lakh to Rs 20.71 lakh
The only MPV to make it on the list is the Kia Carens Clavis. This people mover has always been the spacious and comfortable option for those looking for a big family car, and its recent facelift made it more feature-rich as well.
The Clavis does get a panoramic sunroof in its top-spec variants, however, this feature is available only with the turbo-petrol powertrain. Other features include dual 12.3-inch screens (touchscreen infotainment and digital driver’s display), a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, an air purifier, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.
Its engine options are the same as the Creta, which gets a naturally aspirated petrol engine, a turbo-petrol engine, and a diesel one.
BONUS
The list of best cars with panoramic sunroofs can’t be finished without mentioning one of the best executions of this feature, and that has been done in our bonus car.
Mahindra XEV 9S
Variants: Pack ONE Above, Pack TWO Above, Pack THREE, and Pack THREE Above
Price: Rs 19.95 lakh to Rs 29.45 lakh
The Mahindra XEV 9S, which is the electric version of the popular Mahindra XUV700, also gets a panoramic sunroof. Unlike its siblings – XEV 9e and BE 6 which feature a panoramic glass roof, the one in the XEV 9S is openable.
But this is not the best part. In the top two variants of the XEV 9S, you get ambient lighting integrated into the sunroof, which can be customised with different colours and you can even pick the transitions and effect from the options available.
The XEV 9S gets three battery pack options: 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. All these battery packs are available in a rear-wheel-drive configuration and the electric 7-seater SUV offers a MIDC (Part 1 + 2) claimed range of up to 679 km.
These were our picks for the best cars in India which feature panoramic sunroofs, and we’d like to know which of these would you buy. Let us know your answer in the comments below.
