Tata Motors has finally launched the Tiago (formerly known as Zica) in India. Priced competitively at INR 3.20 and 3.94 lakhs for the base petrol and diesel variants, respectively, it’s an all-new car which sits between the cheaper Nano and bigger Bolt in Tata’s stable.

Overview:
The base floorpan of the Tiago comes from the original Indica (heavily reworked, of course) but, except that, it shares little with any of its siblings. The ‘Impact’ design language' it wears is also brand new, and that has been jointly designed by the carmaker’s design studious in India, UK and Italy. Overall, the Tiago definitely looks refreshing and, unlike any other Tata, till date.
It measures 3,746 mm in length, 1,647 mm in width, 1,535 mm in height and has a 2,400 mm wheelbase. Dimensionally, it stands neck-to-neck with its closest competitor, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio.

Mechanicals:
The Tiago gets a set of new three-cylinder engines. The naturally-aspirated Revotron powers the petrol version and the Revotorq engine works under the hood of the diesel Tiago. Both engines come mated to five-speed manual gearboxes in the first place. An automated manual transmission option is believed to be in the offing.

ConnectNext Infotainment System:
Having debuted with Tata’s new generation of cars – the Zest, the Bolt and the Safari Storme – the system is developed by Harman and offers Bluetooth, USB, and Aux connectivity. It has a small display that doubles up as a parking aid, showing inputs from the rear parking sensors. The vehicle gets a segment- first 4- speaker system with four speakers and four tweeters.
Turn-by-Turn Navigation App:
These are offline maps by MapMyIndia, available for free. The updates for the app will also be free for lifetime. It syncs the car's screen to your phone via Bluetooth and works just like any other map. The availability of offline maps in zero network areas is a boon. Optional voice guidance is available as well.
Juke-Car App: -
Using this app, up to ten devices can be connected to a master phone (via Wi-Fi hotspot) where users can add songs to a master playlist. Once done, other users can disconnect and even then, the songs will still remain and play on the app. Once the master phone closes the app, all songs automatically get erased from the list.
