Mahindra Marazzo Spotted With AMT Badging
Mahindra’s Marazzo is soon expected to be an all around offering, with a diesel and petrol engine and manual and automatic transmissions to go with both of them

A spy shot with ‘AutoShift’ written on the boot has been circulating on the internet.

This is similar to the XUV300’s diesel-auto combo, which makes use of an AMT.

Same configuration is expected for the Marazzo’s diesel-auto combo.

A 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine which makes close to 160PS is also in the offing.

That too is expected to get an automatic transmission as an option.

Marazzo is currently available in 7- and 8-seater configurations.

It is priced between Rs 11.25 lakh and Rs 13.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
Back when Mahindra launched the BS6 Marazzo, it was hinted that an automatic transmission and a turbo-petrol engine are both in the pipeline. And now, finally, a test mule of the automatic Marazzo has been spotted.
The Marazzo pictured here is without any kind of camouflage, and the giveaway that it is an automatic version is the ‘AutoShift’ badging on the bootlid. This same badging is also present on the XUV300, which comes with the option of an AMT gearbox with its diesel engine. This leads us to believe that the diesel version of the Marazzo will indeed make use of an AMT.
Now while the picture of the diesel engine and its automatic transmission is quite clear, details about the petrol are still a little murky. We haven’t spotted a test mule of the same but the petrol engine will be the 1.5-litre mStallion turbo engine shown at the Auto Expo 2020. In fact, this engine is expected to dish out close to 160PS, and is also expected to have an automatic transmission under its belt.
Once it is launched in its petrol avatar, the Marazzo will be able to take the fight to the XL6, the only other MPV in its sights, and one that has proven to be quite popular among new car buyers.
The Marazzo is currently available in the three variants in seven and eight seater configurations. With its single powertrain option as of now, it is priced between Rs 11.25 lakh to Rs 13.59 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It will have a direct competitor in the form of Maruti-Toyota MPV as well as Ford’s Marazzo-based MPV, both of which are expected to hit in a couple of years.
