Using the radar technology, the Kia EV6 can adjust the level of braking regeneration automatically

  • The Kia EV6 is based on the E-GMP platform, and is the carmaker’s first EV in India.

  • It uses a 77.4 kWh battery pack offering a claimed range of up to 708 km.

  • The EV6 comes with a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems which includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist.

  • It comes in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

The Kia EV6 is the flagship EV from the Korean carmaker in India which is based on the E-GMP platform. This 5-seater EV is available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations. With its 77.4 kWh battery pack, it boasts an ARAI-claimed range of up to 708 km. Recently, we had the opportunity to explore the EV6 and discover how the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) can be utilised to maximize the range of the vehicle

As demonstrated in the video, the Kia EV6 utilises radar technology to assess the distance from the vehicle in front of it. The electric crossover features a special auto mode that automatically adjusts the braking regeneration level based on this distance. If the vehicle in front is close, the braking regeneration will be high; if the vehicle in front is far, the regeneration level will decrease. This not only maximizes the driving range but also enhances the comfort and smoothness of your drive.

What Is Braking Regeneration?

The braking regeneration is a mechanism which converts the kinetic energy into the electrical energy while braking. This electrical energy is then used to recharge the battery, thereby increasing the driving range as well.
