Tata Nexon EV Unveil Pushed To December 19

The Tata Nexon EV has been a long time coming and now its global unveil has been pushed back yet again. It was scheduled to debut on December 16, but now it will break cover a few days later on December 19 instead.
The Nexon EV is an all-electric version of the regular sub-4m SUV offering. It will feature some minor aesthetic differences that will be offered on the facelifted Nexon as well. Tata’s first production-spec ‘long-range’ EV will utilise the brand’s Ziptron EV system. That would allow the Nexon EV’s battery pack to be charged using a standard 15A socket as well as fast-charging. It will likely offer a claimed range of around 300km.
A feature-loaded offering, it will likely get a semi-digital instrument cluster as seen in the Harrier and the Altroz. The 7-inch TFT MID would likely relay information about the battery charge level and expected range. The Nexon EV will also feature the latest 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The Nexon EV is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2020 with a price tag of around Rs 15 lakh. It will be Tata’s second EV offering after the Tigor EV. The carmaker intends to launch two more EVs by the end of 2020. The Nexon EV won’t have any direct rivals since the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric are premium offerings with more range.
