Amid falling sales SUV segment sees surge in demand

We have been talking about the sagging sales in the Indian car market for quite some time now, but it seems things are different in the SUV segment. Amid the continual dipping sales, the SUV segment is rejoicing the surging demand. Companies like Mahindra and Mahindra, Audi, Toyota and BMW have already received bookings for the next two months for their SUVs.

According to some top officials of Toyota, the company is receiving 100 bookings everyday for the recently launched revamped Toyota Fortuner. The top officials also said that inspite of increasing the production capacity to additional 1000 vehicles per month they are still falling short of vehicles. Similar reports have been coming from Mahindra and Mahindra, the company has received 25,000 units booking for Mahindra XUV 500 within a span of just ten days.

Mahindra XUV 500 is sold out for coming 4 months and they are planning to enhance the production capacity from 3000 units to 4000 units per month. According to some auto experts the main reason contributing to SUV boom is the declining rate of middle aged car buyers and young aged car buyers are inclining towards SUV segment cars.
