  • New two-spoke steering wheel has been spied multiple times on test mules of the upcoming facelifted Nexon.

  • As per the concept, this screen can display a backlit Tata logo.

  • The 2-spoke flat-bottom design features backlit buttons on each spoke.

  • Expected to be equipped on the facelifted Harrier and Safari as well.

  • Tata could add more functionality to the new steering wheel screen for its more premium models.

We’ve seen a new steering wheel in various spy shots of the facelifted Tata Nexon but now detailed images of the wheel have surfaced online, minus the car. This new 2-spoke design was seen first on the Curvv concept and seems ready for Tata’s existing lineup as well.

Design

The steering wheel looks sleek and simple, with a flat-bottom 2-spoke design and backlit buttons for various controls on each end of the spoke. It still has proper physical bits as well, such as the silver-finished toggles on each side to scroll through the menus or for audio controls. But the part that catches the eye is the big gloss-black bit in the middle which is actually a screen of sorts.

In the Curvv concept, this screen was backlit and displayed the Tata logo. The new steering wheel is expected to offer the same experience on the facelifted Nexon.

More Functionalities

While the backlit logo is distinctive on its own in the price segment, premium models from the carmaker could offer more from this screen. In the Harrier and Safari, and their electrified versions, Tata could add more functionality with better animations where more information about the drive could be displayed, without distracting the driver.
