Opulent Interiors

The Range Rover Autobiography is nothing less than a luxury hotel room on wheels. Inside, it gets Semi-Aniline leather seats with SV Bespoke Duo Tone Leather headlining. The cabin is loaded with comfort enhancing features such as 24-way heated and cooled massage electric front seats with executive class rear seats, four zone climate control and Meridian surround system. It also gets a 13.1-inch touchscreen system which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

A Plethora Of Powertrain Options

The Range Rover Autobiography comes with multiple powertrain options, including both petrol and diesel engines. The 3-litre six-cylinder petrol makes 400PS/550Nm and the 3-litre diesel produces 350PS/700Nm. The Autobiography can also be had with a monstrous 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 530PS/750Nm, which can sprint from nought to 100kmph in 4.7seconds.

All engines are mated to 48-V mild hybrid motors, and the power is transferred via a 8-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels. It is unclear which powertrain is under the hood of Shikhar Dhawan’s Range Rover.

Still A Land Rover

While the Range Rover line of SUVs may cater to the most luxurious wants, as a Land Rover product, they still have mechanicals to be capable off the road. It uses Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 system which comes with eight terrain modes which includes rock crawl, grass, gravel, mud and ruts, sand, snow and an auto mode. It also gets a general driving mode suitable for muddy or waterlogged surfaces. The SUV also has a water wading capacity of 900mm.

The dynamics of the Range Rover Autobiography is enhanced by all wheel steering, electronic air suspension system and open differential with torque vectoring by braking to optimise traction from the rear axle during high-speed cornering. It also controls understeer or oversteer by applying controlled brakes, and monitoring the distribution of torque.
