Hyundai has started developing a new generation infotainment platform with NVIDIA. Called the NVIDIA DRIVE, this infotainment platform will be standard on all the Hyundai, Kia and Genesis brand of vehicles from 2022 onwards.
This includes even the entry-level offerings from the brand. NVIDIA is largely known for developing top-notch graphic processing units for gaming and professional platforms.
The NVIDIA DRIVE platform features a connected car operating system (ccOS) which will be optimised for a host of connected technologies as well. Apart from the usual audio, video and navigation modules, this system will also bestow artificial intelligence-based connected technology to users.
The new platform will feature additional computing power and sensors to relay better graphics and an AI with deep learning capabilities. So, it will continuously gauge the user’s behaviour patterns to optimise and tailor make the infotainment experience. It will also be capable of working offline in case you venture off the network coverage areas.
Hyundai’s also promising advancements in the digital instrument system which would also feature AI-based safety and conveniences. This will start appearing on the Hyundai Group cars from 2021 onwards.
Hyundai’s current BlueLink technology offers remote engine start/stop, cabin pre-cool, remote horn honk, real-time tracking, geo-fencing and in-car air quality monitoring among the notable features. Expect a further jump in these technologies with the next-gen NVIDIA DRIVE platform.
Hyundai and NVIDIA have been working on the new tech since 2015. The first results of the NVIDIA DRIVE can be seen in Hyundai’s premium line of offerings, the Genesis GV80 and G80. Given its global introduction in 2022, we can expect NVIDIA DRIVE-equipped cars in India after that timeline.
