Honda Jazz ready to outrun other hatchbacks

The month of August 2011 was probably the most incredible month for Honda India. First was Honda City reclaiming its top position in the B+/C sedan segment of the Indian car market and the other one is more surprising. Honda India doesn’t offer Honda City in diesel variant. It is well known fact that petrol prices are sky rocketing and it costs way higher than diesel. Adding to the charm, Honda Jazz sales figures touch a new level. Honda India, managed to sell 600 units of Jazz in the month of August 2011.

Earlier, Honda Jazz was outgunned by other hatchback, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA. The major reason why Honda Jazz sales were tumbling down was its extremely high prices. Conversely, just like all other Honda products, even Honda Jazz came with extremely impressive features, such as massive interior space, stylish look and comfortable seats. But, the high price tag made Honda Jazz the odd one out in the Indian car market.

This August, Honda India announced the revamped and refurbished Honda Jazz. The changes are done in the exteriors as well as in the interiors. Honda India did a bold move by launching on 18th August 2011, the very next day when Maruti India launched brand new Maruti Swift. However, Honda India had some other plans, as it was planning a major mugging on the new Maruti Swift. This was done by slashing the price of Honda Jazz by a whopping Rs. 1.75 Lakh. The all new Honda Jazz price was Rs. 5.5 Lakh only, which in turn positioned Honda Jazz in the commercial hatchback segment of the Indian car market.

However, selling 600 units is not a good figure at all, but it surely is a good start. Honda India needs to buckle up their shoes and put all its efforts in increasing this 3 digit figure to at least a 4 digit one. It is known that Honda Jazz certainly has all the features and ability to top in the B+ petrol hatchbacks segment of the Indian car market.
