2014 Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift : What to expect!
Launched just few days back in UK, the 2014 Swift facelift is all set to reach Indian shores soon. Carrying most of the cosmetic changes inside-out, the car looks more-or-less same as the on-going model. With no official words from Maruti Suzuki India(MSI), the vehicle is expected to arrive around this year’s festive season.
It’s just a facelift to the current model, so, the over-all design remains identical to the current one. However, the prime and the most noticeable revision comes in the form of daytime running lights (DRLs) right below the fog lamps. The top-end trim will now wear new 16-inches shoes, while the lower non-alloy variants will get new wheel-covers. The turn-indicators integrated electrically adjustable ORVMs(Outside Rear View Mirrors)will now come as standard. The rear sees tweaked bumpers, refreshed tail lamps and new centre stop light. The same story repeats on the inside too, as the cabin feels all the same instead of some countable tit-bits. New dual-tone plush upholstery, push start button, heated mirrors, auto-adjustable driver seat and Bluetooth connectivity are the main highlight of the new additions.
No change to the heart though, mechanically, the facelifted Swift will remain unchanged. Under the hood, it will continue using a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol motor pushing out 85 Bhp and 114 Nm of torque. And the diesel variants will be powered by the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbo oil-burner mill churning out 75 Bhp and max. torque of 190 Nm. Both engines comes mated to a common five-speed gearbox, there are some rumors that it may also come with a 4-speed convention autobox or even with the recent sensation Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
Last month, the MSI sold around 18,000 units of the Swift, crowning it to be country’s second best selling product. Even with these big numbers, MSI is not in mood to take things lightly as along with the facelifted Swift, India’s second largest carmaker- Hyundai will launch the next generation i20, followed by the Tata Bolt and new Honda Jazz. In terms of pricing, we don’t expect much-of-a-change than a slight increment than the current model.
