Except with the Hyundai Exter and Hyundai Venue N Line, the dashcam is being offered with special edition variants of the other models

A dashcam becomes crucial in countries like India, where you can encounter all sorts of incidents that may harm you or your car. It can save you from trouble by providing concrete evidence with a recording of exactly what occurred at the scene. Now, several automakers, including Hyundai, Renault, and Skoda, offer a factory-fitted dashcam with select models. Let's take a closer look at each of these models.

Hyundai Exter

Hyundai Exter

This recent trend began with the launch of the Hyundai Exter in July. It comes equipped with a dashcam as a dual-camera setup for capturing the view ahead, as well as the cabin. This feature is exclusively available in the top-spec SX(O) Connect variant of the micro SUV, with prices ranging from Rs 9.32 lakh to Rs 10.10 lakh.

Renault Triber

The Renault Triber has recently got an 'Urban Night' edition for the festive season, featuring a new exterior shade and a 9.66-inch Smart View monitor inside. This monitor serves two purposes: it functions as an interior rear-view mirror (IRVM) with adjustable angles and also doubles as a dashcam with front and rear cameras. Additionally, it comes equipped with wireless smartphone connectivity, allowing you to easily download recorded content.

This special edition of the Triber is based on its top-spec RXZ variant, and customers will have to shell out Rs 14,999 more over the top-spec variant of the Renault Triber. Only 300 units of the Renault Triber Urban Black edition will be sold.

Renault Kiger

Just like the Triber, the Renault Kiger also comes in a special ‘Urban Night’ edition with the same exterior treatment and the Smart View monitor inside, which doubles as a dual camera dashcam. This special edition is again based on the top-spec RXZ trim of the Kiger, and its special edition costs Rs 14,999 more. Just like the Renault MPV, only 300 units of this special edition of the Kiger will be retailed.

Hyundai Creta

Hyundai Creta Adventure edition

The Hyundai Creta, one of the best-selling compact SUVs in India, received a special limited-run 'Adventure' edition variant in August. In addition to the new exterior and interior shades, this edition is equipped with a dual-camera dashcam. This special edition of the Creta is based on its mid-spec SX and top-spec SX(O) variants, with prices ranging from Rs 15.17 lakh to Rs 17.89 lakh.

Hyundai Alcazar

Hyundai Alcazar Adventure edition

Similar to the Creta, the Hyundai Alcazar also gets a special 'Adventure' edition that includes a dual-camera dashcam as an additional feature. This edition is available for both the mid-spec Platinum and top-spec Signature (O) variants of the Alcazar, with prices ranging from Rs 19.04 lakh to Rs 21.24 lakh.

Skoda Slavia

Skoda has recently introduced a more affordable 'Ambition Plus' mid-spec variant of the Slavia, just in time for the festive season. Alongside some minor cosmetic changes, this Slavia variant also boasts a built-in dashcam. However, it differs from all the other models on this list as it doesn't feature a dual-camera setup, instead just using one camera to record the view ahead. The Ambition Plus variant of the Skoda Slavia is priced from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 13.79 lakh.

Hyundai Venue

The Hyundai Venue recently saw the introduction of the new 'Knight Edition' last month. It gets an all-black treatment both inside and outside and is equipped with a dual-camera dashcam. Hyundai has also extended this feature to the N6 trim of the Venue N Line, which is the sportier version of the subcompact Hyundai SUV.

The Venue Knight edition is priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 13.48 lakh, while the Venue N Line’s N6 variant is priced at Rs 12 lakh to Rs 12.82 lakh.

So these are the seven mass-market models that come with a dashcam from the factory, and not as an accessory. However, the majority of them are limited-edition models. Do you think that all carmakers should include this feature as regular equipment on all of their premium models? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
