Suzuki Jimny Lite To Be Introduced In Australia

Suzuki has decided to launch the Jimny Lite in Australia. It’s a stripped-down version of the regular Jimny, which is currently sold in a single variant. From the looks of it, it is aimed at customers who want the off-road capabilities of the Jimny, without the additional features that also make it a great everyday car.

It will be offered with standard 15-inch steel wheels and plastic textured ORVM covers. Further, fog lamps, offered as standard on the Jimny sold in Australia, have been removed from the package.

On the inside, the Jimny will come with a 2 DIN audio player with CD and radio capabilities, a manual AC unit, and Bluetooth connectivity. 

The sole Jimny variant on sale in Australia is currently offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. It’s powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 102PS and 130Nm. Jimny Lite will have the same specifications, but it will only be available with a manual transmission. A part-time 4WD system will also be on offer.

What does it mean for the Jimny coming to India? Well, nothing directly. However, it does show that Maruti Suzuki’s parent company is ready to offer the Jimny as a strictly utilitarian offering in case of a demand.
