Update: Hyundai has launched the Grand i10 Nios at Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). The hatchback is available with both petrol and diesel engine options which are being offered with optional AMT gearbox as well as manual transmission options. Read more about it here.

  • Hyundai to launch Grand i10 Nios On 20 August 2019.

  • Pre-launch bookings are now open for Rs 11,000.

  • Will carry forward the same 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines, albeit with new AMT options.

  • Features latest design language with new front grille, updated headlights and more.

  • Gets updated interior and likely to get new features too such as 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit but without embedded eSIM.

  • The Nios is the third-gen model of the i10 nameplate.

Back in July, we got confirmation of the arrival of the third-gen Hyundai Grand i10 in India. Not only do we know now that it will be called the Grand i10 Nios at launch, we have also got our first look at the compact hatchback in the first set of official images. Pre-launch bookings for the Grand i10 Nios are already underway.

What are the expected prices?

The new Grand i10 Nios is expected to have a starting price of just above Rs 5 lakh, with the top spec likely to be priced just under Rs 8 lakh. It will be positioned under the Elite i20 premium hatchback of course, which currently has a starting price of Rs 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The second-gen Grand i10, which currently retails between Rs 4.98 lakh and 7.63 lakh, might see a price revision to accommodate the new model.

What’s new on the Grand i10 Nios?

Not only will the Nios feature Hyundai’s latest design language with redesigned exterior and interior, it is expected to be bigger than the second-gen model.

It gets a new steering wheel borrowed from the Kona Electric along with what appears to be a Venue-like 8.0-inch freestanding touchscreen display for the infotainment system. As we’ve seen on the Kia Seltos, the infotainment system is integrated into the instrument cluster housing. The Nios seems unlikely to be equipped with Hyundai's Blue Link connected car technology as offered on the Venue sub-4m SUV, as hinted by the lack of the IRVM which gets the BlueLink button.

What about the engines?

The Grand i10 Nios will carry forward the same engine lineup as the second-gen model at launch. That includes a pair of 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines, both of which will  be offered with manual as well as new AMT options. It is likely to offer BS6-compliant engines at launch, especially the petrol.

What will the Grand i10 Nios compete with?

The new Grand i10 Nios will take on the likes of the Ford Figo, Nissan Micra, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ignis.

When can you get one?

The launch and price announcement, as mentioned, is slated for 20 August 2019. However, bookings for the Grand i10 Nios are already open at Hyundai dealerships and on the carmaker’s website as well, for a nominal deposit fee of Rs 11,000.
