In its COP tests, the Maruti Dzire earned a dynamic score of 23.57 out of 24 points, majorly due to a 7.57 point rating out of 8 for the 3-year-old dummy’s front protection. On the other hand, the 18-month-old dummy's front protection received full points, similar to the side protection of both dummies (4 out of 4).

    Skoda Kylaq

In its frontal offset deformable barrier test, all parts of the driver received ‘good’ protection except the chest and left tibia, which got an ‘adequate’ rating. All parts of the co-driver were marked ‘good’.

In the side movable deformable barrier test and side pole impact test, it fared similar to the Maruti Dzire.

In the COP tests of the Skoda Kylaq, the dynamic score was 24 out of 24 points as it scored full points for both the front and side crash tests with both 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies.

    Takeaways

Although in the side crash tests both sub-4m cars are more-or-less similar, the Kylaq gets more parts that are marked ‘good’ in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, resulting in better AOP scores.

In the COP tests too, the Kylaq has scored full points in all tests, while the Dzire has lost some points in the frontal crash test of the 3-year-old dummy.

All of this makes the Skoda Kylaq, which is also the safest sub-4m SUV in the segment, boast a better score than the Maruti sub-4m sedan.
