Maruti Swift, a premium and extremely popular hatchback from Maruti Suzuki India has reached and rather crossed the 4.5 Lakh units mark in just 5 years. Since its launch in 2005, the car has been extremely popular in India and saw a mass appreciation and high demand in the market.

May 25, 2005, was the D day when this much hyped hatchback was launched in India. The expectations and excitement for the car led to nearly 16,000 prior bookings for the car. These orders were placed much before its price was announced and even before it was officially unveiled. In a recent statement the company officials confirmed that in a mere time frame of 5 years the car has crossed the 4.5 lakh units mark which is tremendous.

Initially the production had started with just 5000 units which kept on increasing in leaps and bounds over every month, including the Diesel variant to over 12,000 units every month at present. This ever rising demand of the car surpassed the expectations company has from the car. This hatchback that sported a trendy look is being manufactured from both Gurgaon and Manesar facilities.

Maruti Suzuki India is now finding it difficult to meet the high demands for the car and there is a prevalent demand-supply mis-match in the market as far as Maruti Swift is concerned. The car is available in both petrol and Diesel variants in India, out of which the demand for diesel car is much more. The current waiting period for the petrol variant is 2-3 months, while that for the Diesel variant is approximately 4 months.

Apart from the much popular and widely accepted Swift, the current line up of Maruti Suzuki India includes Maruti Alto, Maruti Swift Dzire, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti SX4, Maruti A-Star, Maruti Ritz, Maruti Eeco, Maruti Zen Estilo and many more across all segments.
