Expect Honda to reveal the prices of the new Amaze by 12:00pm

Honda Amaze

Honda Cars India is all set to launch the second-generation Amaze today. The Honda Amaze 2018 packs a brand new platform and design along with a host of additional features to take on the third-generation Dzire, which is among the top three selling cars in India.

Here’s what Honda is offering with the second-generation Amaze:

Exterior, interior and features:

Honda Amaze

The second-gen Honda Amaze is underpinned by a new platform, which is also making its debut with the compact sedan. This platform should also underpin the second-gen Brio. Honda recently showcased the Small RS concept that will form the basis of it.

Honda has completely revised the look and feel of the Amaze’s exterior and interior compared to the Brio-based first-gen model. In terms of features, the new Amaze is pretty well loaded compared to the previous model. It packs goodies such as a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto, paddle shifters and cruise control function. Safety features like ABS and dual front airbags will be standard across the range.

Variants:

The second-gen Honda Amaze is available in four variants levels: E (base), S, V and VX (range-topping).

Mechanicals and mileage:

The Honda Amaze carries forward the first-gen model’s 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines with a standard 5-speed manual transmission. The first-gen Amaze was available with an automatic transmission (CVT) with the petrol engine. The petrol engine will continue to be available with the CVT on the second-gen Amaze as well.

The diesel Amaze, which gets the same engine as the first-gen model, will also get a CVT this time around. It will be available with a manual transmission as well. The CVT will be available on S and V variants only with both the engines.

Thanks to the new design and comparatively lighter platform, the new Amaze offers better fuel efficiency than the previous model. The petrol is rated at 19.5kmpl for the manual and 19kmpl for the CVT, while the diesel stands at 27.4kmpl for the manual and 23.8kmpl for the CVT.
