The Carnival sold in India continues to be the previous-gen model, but we expect the new-gen model to arrive in 2022

  • The highlight of the cabin are the two luxury seats draped in quilted leather.

  • A 7-inch touchscreen controller can operate the AC, ambient lighting, the foot massager and a 21.5-inch monitor.

  • You also get fold-out tables like in an aeroplane.

  • Cooled/heated cupholders, wireless smartphone charging, and wooden flooring are some of the other novelties.

  • This new 4-seater variant is only sold with a petrol engine.

Kia has introduced a new 4-seater version of the new-generation Carnival that can be had only with the top-spec Hi-Limousine variant of the MPV. It converts the rear cabin of the Carnival into a luxury 2-seater space.

The biggest change are the two forward-facing luxury rear seats, similar to those usually seen on airlines. A huge headrest, full recline function, generous calf support and a quilted leather surface means you’ll be comfortable in these seats for hours on end. Kia is also offering a foot massager in this setup for the rear left passenger.

The space between the seats offers cushioned support, a wireless charging pad, some button control pads and a 7-inch controller touchscreen that allows you to access the various features

such as the ambient lighting, air conditioning, the foot massager or even a 21.5-inch monitor.

The centre console also houses tables that can be used to either work on a laptop, or have a meal. Once their work is done, they can be neatly tucked away into the centre console.

Kia has also thrown in features like cooled/heated cupholders, cold/hot storage and a regular storage space in front of the right passenger which can be used to store items like a pair of shoes. The use of premium materials isn’t restricted to the seats or the cabin walls, but you’ll also find wood on the floor. Kia has also retuned the ride quality of the Carnival, in this case to offer a more plush ride.

The Hi-Limousine 4-seater variant of the new-gen Carnival can only be had with the 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine on offer. The old-gen Carnival sold in India is only offered with a 2.2-litre diesel engine paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. There are chances that the new-gen Carnival, which should arrive in India in 2022, could be offered with a diesel engine only. However, a lot of new car buyers have once again started to focus on petrol vehicles, and that could push Kia to introduce the petrol engine as well.
