4th Generation Honda City had been in the waiting for quite sometime both for the auto industry as well as for the end consumer. Unveiled globally last month in the national capital, Honda Cars India showcased their spear head model that would take on rest of the competition such as Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, Fiat Linea and so on next year.

On that very note, we recently were invited by the Japanese auto maker to Pink City (Jaipur) to get our hands on the latest generation City and experience the product before its actual launch during the 12th Edition Auto Expo 2014. Keeping this aspect in mind, we shall share a couple of facts that make 'New Honda City more glamorous and feature centric than before.

1. Refreshed front end that bears Honda latest design philosophy "EXCITING H !!!" especially in regards to the grille which is more aggressive and eye catchy.

2. Sharper edges in regards to side fenders clubbed sharp lines highlight its side profile which further enhanced via boomer rang shape alloy wheels.

3. Rear is one section wherein one would see majority of the changes in reference to a sharper boot lid comprising of new tail lamps and chrome highlight. For the extra bit of glamour, Honda has gone ahead and put a shark fin on the roof.

4. New Honda City offers a new cabin which comes across as really upmarket. Its center console comprising of a touch screen infotainment system and climate control are the high points. Another crucial element being its increased wheel base that has resulted in a bigger cabin offering 70mm more space especially to the rear passenger when it comes to leg room. Added sunroof on the top end variant is icing on the cake.

5. There are 3 variants on offer; two petrol and one diesel. Beginning with petrol, there is a 1.5, 4 Cylinder SOHC i-VTEC engine on board which produces a power output of 117.3bhp with 145Nm of torque. However, their transmission vary as the petrol model caters to an option of 5-speed manual as well as automatic. Having mentioned this, the one that will experience exponential interest is the diesel mill that features the current 1.5-litre engine doing its duty in Amaze. The 1498cc, 4 Cylinder, DOHC i-DTEC churns out 98bhp of power along with 200Nm of torque. The most important point is that it offers a 6-speed manual transmission.

6. To set a benchmark in the all important fuel efficiency segment, the new City is set to offer a mileage of 17.8 kmpl on manual petrol variant while the automatic is said to return 17.9 kmpl. The surprise package is that the diesel version is going to be the country's most fuel efficient with its whooping mileage of 26kmpl, as claimed by Honda- Incredible!!!

7. On road both petrol and diesel variants perform reasonably well. With the diesel mill providing better insulation and refinement in comparison the Amaze. The petrol CVT variant is pretty good for city use making commuting an easy affair.
