India's largest auto maker, Maruti Suzuki hiked prices of its models by Rs. 5,000 - 10,000 which will be effected from 28th January. Maruti Suzuki hiked prices of its model due to increase in input cost and fluctuation in foreign currency which affects imported prices of components.

Maruti Suzuki hiked prices of its recently launched hatchback model, Maruti A-Star, which was launched in November last year, by Rs. 10,000 while prices of all variants of Maruti SX4 sedan have been increased by Rs. 9,000.

Maruti Suzuki hiked prices of Swift Petrol LXi by Rs. 5,000. For the higher variants of Maruti Swift -- VXi and ZXi -- and all variants of its diesel variants the prices are now higher by Rs 6,000. While the prices for Maruti Swift DZire (all variants in Petrol and Diesel) are higher by Rs 7,000.

The increase in price has been necessitated because of the increase in input costs like steel and foreign currency changes. There has been regular fluctuations in foreign currency which has forced us to go for this increase in prices, the company official said.
