Speaking of the Accord in India, Honda phased it out back in 2013 and until now, did not have any plans to relaunch it as the manufacturer was focusing on its small car platform that include Brio, Amaze, Mobilio and Jazz. But as the production of Jazz has reached its final stages, Honda is exporting it to places and the launch date is also declared, July 8th, it can now focus on putting its brand benchmark back by introducing Accord.

While Accord was being discontinued in India, back in 2013, the world received the 9th generation of this sedan. Hence, the 2016 Accord will be a mid-life facelift of the same 9th Generation car.

The upcoming Honda Accord will be stacked against the likes of Skoda Superb and VW Passat that may be launched at the same time as that of Accord. Also in the competition, there will be Toyota Camry that is currently doing just fine in its elements, especially the hybrid variant that is accounting for 70 percent of its sale.

Moreover, Honda may face another trouble in the name of Audi, BMW and Merc that are slowly cutting down their prices to make some of their models more affordable, certainly by increasing localization. Cars like Audi A3, Mercedes-Benz CLA are attracting a good volume of buyers.

Recognised as a bit left field thinker, he states that all iconic vehicles on the planet, apart from their engines and designs, had a soulful character contributing to their greatness. Having driven cars from Lamborghinis to Nanos to even tractors, Abhijeet believes all vehicles have a character that forms an integral part of our lives, ‘imagine where mankind could have reached without cars’. Being a critic, his knowledge and skill extend both on four-wheels and two-wheels. Art experts around the globe argue that cars can never be art, but Abhijeet begs to differ. Both an engineer and MBA, he holds a keen eye for the product as well as corporate proficiency of the automobile industry.
