Audi plans to add shifts to meet out stripping demand for SUVs

The Volkswagen Group’s premium brand Audi is planning to make things in order, so that it can deliver cars to the waiting customers at the earliest or even instantly. For this purpose, Audi will be working in more shifts. Besides other models, Audi supposedly will boost production of its Audi Q7 model. As part of this strategy, two of its production units in Germany will be working on the weekends to increase production.

The decision of working extra shifts seems to be the usual outcome, Audi’s inspiring order book. It is this surging demand that is said to have contributed a lot to the first quarter earnings of Volkswagen that is said to have been tripled, said sources. Audi also sold good number of cars and SUVs in the first quarter and maintaining this trend it needs to cut short the delivery time for the waiting customers. Among the Audi cars, Audi Q7 is said to be lagging behind in delivery with the longest waiting time followed by the Audi Q5.

The plan to step up production at its units is also part of the Audi’s strategy to achieve highest-ever sales this year. Besides Audi, BMW and Mercedes also targets the same, this year, eyeing growing wealth and demand for cars in China and expected economy comeback in the US.
