    Volkswagen Up! expected to be priced between Rs3 to Rs5 lakh

    The German auto giant Volkswagen recently asserted the date when the production version of Volkswagen Up! will be undisguised. Volkswagen is all set to unveil Up! in its production guise in the month of August. The company is all geared up and working aggressively to launch Volkswagen Up! In India. Volkswagen already is riding high in the small car segment with its small car Volkswagen Polo along with that it is also doing well in the sedan segment with its sedan Volkswagen Vento. These cars have done extremely well in India and have contributed majorly towards ramping up the sales figure in India.

    Small cars in India are sold like hot cakes, with the recent addition of new small cars in India like Toyota Etios Liva and the forthcoming hatchback from the Honda , Honda Brio, the competition is going to get tougher. The auto majors are eyeing hatchback segment in India since small car are less expensive and offer better mileage. Top Indian car manufacturer Maruti has been enjoying the top spot in this segment since long.     The new offering from Volkswagen will be gunning straight against small cars like Maruti Wagon R, Hyundai Santro. This car from Volkswagen will be lined up below Volkswagen Polo in India. Volkswagen Up is expected to pull volumes for the German auto major in India. Volkswagen Up! is expexted to be priced between Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.

    In the global market the car has been unveiled as a two door car but on the contrary in India the car will be showcased as a four door car. The German auto giant is not thinking on the lines to develop a new engine for the car however it is likely to use the same powertrains as used in Volkswagen Polo. The 1.2 liter , 3 cylinder petrol engine is viable for Volkswagen Up! and with this engine affixed under its hood it is expected to deliver a whopping mileage of atleats 20 kmpl. Rumor has it that Volkswagn might think to use the 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder, K-Series motor used by its global partner Suzuki, but nothing has been confirmed by the company yet.
