Last week was a busy one for carmakers in India, with several official announcements about milestones, new variants, price updates, and a teaser for an upcoming model. In addition, the week saw the debut of a new premium MPV from Kia and an updated Windsor EV from Morris Garages. Here’s a quick roundup of everything that unfolded.
Kia Carens Clavis Revealed
Kia’s new MPV offering, the Kia Carens Clavis, was officially revealed this week. It is more premium than the existing Carens and will co-exist along with it. It features major design changes, a new colour option, and several additional features compared to the existing version. While prices are yet to be announced, bookings for the Kia Carens Clavis are currently underway.
MG Windsor EV Pro Launched
The MG Windsor EV Pro has been launched in India. This updated version comes with a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, offering a greater claimed range. It also features a new interior theme and additional features for convenience and safety.
At launch, the MG Windsor EV Pro was offered with an introductory price starting at Rs 12.50 lakh, available exclusively for 8000 early buyers. Securing the same within the first 24 hours, the carmaker has withdrawn the offer, leading to a subsequent price hike.
Volkswagen Golf GTI Pre-bookings Closed
Amid the SUV dominance in the Indian market, the upcoming performance hatchback Volkswagen Golf GTI has already grabbed a lot of attention. Pre-launch bookings were opened for a limited number of units, which has now been closed by Volkswagen. The Golf GTI will be brought to India as a CBU and will feature a 265 PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, along with sporty styling inside and out.
2025 Tata Altroz Teased Again
After previously teasing its exterior, the 2025 Tata Altroz facelift has now been teased again, this time revealing bits of its interior and key features. The updated premium hatchback gets a new cabin theme and several feature upgrades.
Skoda Kylaq Prices Revised
Skoda India has updated the prices of the Kylaq sub-compact SUV across its range. It is available in four variants with both manual and automatic transmission options. The lower variants of the Skoda Kylaq have received a price hike of up to Rs 36,000, while its higher-spec variants have become more affordable by up to Rs 46,000.
Some Mahindra XUV700 Variants Discontinued
The Mahindra XUV700’s entry-level AX3 variant from the AX range has been discontinued, which was priced between Rs 16.39 lakh and Rs 18.59 lakh (ex-showroom). Moreover, all variants with the 5-seater option have been discontinued by the carmaker, meaning the SUV is available only with 6-seater and 7-seater configurations.
Hyundai Exter Gets New Variants
The Hyundai Exter has been updated with two new variants: S Smart and SX Smart. These variants are positioned in the middle of the lineup and make features like the sunroof, TPMS, and push-button start/stop more accessible for buyers. In fact, they also make the AMT variant more affordable by Rs 5,000.
Jeep Wrangler Willys ‘41 Special Edition Launched
Jeep has launched a special Wrangler Willys '41 edition in India. It is inspired by the 1941 Willys. It sports a similar colour scheme along with exclusive cosmetic and feature updates. Based on the Rubicon variant, this limited-edition model commands a premium of Rs 1.59 lakh.
Mahindra EVs Hit Another Delivery Milestone
The two Mahindra EVs – BE 6 and XEV 9e have always been somewhere around the news ever since they were launched. The Indian auto giant has announced that the EVs collectively have recorded another milestone of having more than 6000 units delivered in a short span.
Mahindra To Introduce A New SUV Platform
Besides, Mahindra has also confirmed introducing a new SUV platform on 15 August this year. They have also set up a new manufacturing plant at Chakan, Pune which is capable of manufacturing 1.2 lakh units per year, based on the new platform. Mahindra had confirmed plans to launch 7 new ICE SUVs and 5 electric vehicles in India by 2030, out of which 3 ICE SUVs and 2 EVs are scheduled to debut in 2026.
