Tata Bolt To Be Sold Only As Fleet Vehicle: Sources
There were high expectations from the Tata Bolt when it was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and then launched within the next 12 months. Cut to today and the tide seems to have turned against the Indica Vista successor since it is now facing possible extinction.
However, contrary to recent reports about the Bolt being taken out of production, sources close to the company have informed us that the car will continue to be manufactured, but will be restricted to fleet operations. “Owing to the lacklustre sales volumes of the car, the Bolt will now be available for commercial cab market only,” said the source, on condition of anonymity.
Reports had earlier claimed that the domestic carmaker has lost its faith in the Bolt, which has only managed a dismal 17,000 units till date. The homegrown automaker is said to concentrate its resources and efforts on the better selling Tiago hatchback that has garnered more than 30,000 orders up till August, since its launch in April. The car breached the 5,000 units sales mark in July and helped Tata Motors register a remarkable 43 per cent growth in the month.
