Tata Motors has launched a new XM+ variant of the Altroz petrol. Priced at Rs 6.60 lakh, it attracts a premium of Rs 30,000 over the XM variant which is priced at Rs 6.30 lakh. The XM+ is the sixth variant in the Altroz’ lineup which consists of the XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ(O).

Over the XM, the XM+ is equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls and a remote foldable key. It also gets bigger 16-inch wheels with covers replacing the 14-inch wheels found on the XM variant.

Compared to the XT, the XM+ skips features like mood lighting, parking camera, front fog lamps with cornering function, push-button start and auto AC. The Altroz XT is priced at Rs 6.99 lakh, a premium of Rs 39,000 over the XM+ variant.

As mentioned above, Tata is offering the Altroz XM+ with a petrol engine only. It is powered by a 1.2-litre engine making 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque mated to 5-speed manual transmission. The Altroz diesel gets a 1.5-litre engine making 90PS and 200Nm mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Tata is also expected to launch the Altroz Turbo soon. It will be powered by a turbocharged version of the current 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 110PS of power.

The Altroz is priced from Rs 5.44 lakh to Rs 9.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It competes with the likes of the Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and the recently launched 2020 Hyundai i20.
